General indisposed: ‘white flag’ case postponed again
(Lanka-e-News, Sep. 28, 2010, 10.55PM) The trial of the ‘white flag’ case against General Fonseka in the High court before a three judge panel was postponed today (08) until the 04th of October because the General was indisposed.

The General has been indicted based on a story which appeared in the Sunday Leader newspaper that Defense secretary Gotabaya Rajapkse gave orders to Major General Shavindra De Silva in the battlefield to shoot the LTTE leaders without allowing them to escape when they came forward carrying white flags. This story was attributed to the General as having related it.
The General ‘s Lawyer Nalin Laduwahetti told Court that though the General wished to appear in Court for the trial, owing to his sickness he had to keep away. As there was no objection from the State counsel to the request of the General’s Lawyer for postponement of the case; taking into account the General’s illness, the three judge panel decided to put off the trial.
