| If 13th amendment is withdrawn we will resign from Govt. – SLMC |

(Lanka-e-News -25.Oct.2012, 9.30PM) Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) Secretary, M D Hassen Ali M .P. said ,if the Govt. is to eliminate the 13th amendment and abolish Provincial Councils (PC) , the SLMC will immediately resign from the Govt. , according to what he reported to Lanka e news. Not only the SLMC , but even the minor Muslim parties supporting the Govt. will resign is his belief , he added.
Meanwhile the TNA stated that Ministers of the PCs enjoying privileges who are making a din about the necessity of a referendum in connection with the 13th amendment are to stoke racialist parties. The 13th amendment was introduced as a solution to the north east national issue. Hence , regarding the 13th amendment the referendum shall be held in the north and east, the TNA pointed out. |

When Lanka e news inquired from an SLFP senior front liner on why the Rajapakse regime had suddenly awoken to this 13th amendment and is in an unholy haste , the SLFP front liner replied , ‘what a lie and bluff is this . As long as India exists the 13th amendment cannot be eliminated. Besides , by eliminating this amendment ,is the Govt. trying to pave the way again for terrorism? These are all ploys to divert the attention of the people before the upcoming budget which has now become the biggest scourge of the masses and to forestall any public protests . This is a noisy camouflage to distract the people from the budget which has become their biggest bugbear in this country by a Govt. on whom the wrath of the people is mounting day by day’, he noted. The two brothers in vice , Mahinda Rajapakse and Basil are appropriating 60 % of the budget allocations while only the balance 40 % is to be shared by all the other Ministries , the SLFP stalwart bemoaned. |
