It is interesting to note here, from the comments forwarded that some are trying to hide behind the fact, that although the person wears a robe he is not a Buddhist monk. Well he was considered a Buddhist monk as many others, indulging all this while, till he was caught enjoying all the privileges offered to the clergy. It is only after he is caught that he is disclaimed. What naivette? How many more are there, freely indulging yet, continuing to do so receiving the recognition and respect of the laity?? There have been incidents reported in the papers where young Samaneras admitted to hospitals with anal ruptures and of some who have committed suicide. These incidents have been hushed up by these faithfulls from exposure so far, that have led some to dare, to operate at commercial levels as in this case. The answer is not to hush up, but to open it for debate and adopt measures to protect the young. After all the founder of the Philosophy became a Priest not as a young Samanera but as an adult at 29 years. Although he ordained his only son who was just seven years, he ordered others not to ordain the very young obviously knowing the danger of homosexuality that was practised even then.

just because someone dons robes and shaves his head does NOT make him a monk. That is only a visual representation. The true monk follows the Dhamma of the Buddha. Anyone who cannot understand this is ignorant

There is nothiong to correct the headline! He is a Monk, isn't he? Any pious Buddhist will definetly respect this fellow if seen, would offer his seat if happened to be in a public transport vehicle, would give him a special seat if arrived at home!!! Now the question is do the Pious, |Innocent Buddhists keep-on allowing this creeed to influence the mass in their political thoughts other than the matters pertaining to religeion and thereby be mis-guided as in the past and happening now in the name of Budddhism, Sinhalism and patriotism?

Though this guy was in a yellow robe with a shaven head he has NOT been a 'Buddhist Monk' as anyone can see. These are dirty scums in society that disgrace the religion and the society. The headline should not have referred to the guy as a Buddhist monk. Hope some 'political' pull will not pull him out of a jail term!

Please be careful before publishing this type of news. How do we know whether this is a real monk or a layman who is wearing a Sivura to pretend and to make it easy to walk around and also to prevent suspision. I am quite sure this is a fake monk, if not he should be hung in public.

I tell you a story that how the media is playing. One day, a fresh morning in New York, there was a dog trying to bite a little boy. A good looking man hit, traced the dog and saved the little boy. A police man who was watching this came to the good man and said: “You have done a good job. The New York Times will publish this tomorrow as a brave New Yoker saved a little boy from a dangerous dog.” The man said “I am not a New Yoker.” Policeman: “Oh, so, the title will be “A brave American saved a little boy from a dangerous dog.” Man: “I am not an American too.” Policeman: “So, where are you from?” Man: “I am a Pakistani.” Next day the title on the New York Times… “A Pakistani terrorist killed an innocent dog.” This is called media game.

It is very important to analytical observation on this subject. The hedding says "a Buddhist mont". Buddhadhamma or the teachings of the Buddha we do not find something addition to three signeta or in Pali Tilakkhana. The seekers of the maning of life may follow are called Buddhist monks. Nobody should misconceptionalze the teaching of the light of the Asia abusing the Buddha or other religious teachers. This is a very perticuler person who was wearing yellow robs, shaven heads for the benefit of his own worldly benefits. During the period of Emporer Ashoke there ware certain group of Tirthakas who were wearing yellow robes and shaven heads appering as monks. That was the main reason to call for the third council. Even today there are such. Some of them are comming from lack of knowledge and another comes from missionary religions wand to built a negative picture about monks among devotees. Any way both intention are dirty and path to hell.

I agree with Gamini Dullewe - The government should set an example - this guy and the involved parties should be punished in public and humiliated so that others would not think about it in the future (it is truly a sick act to use underage youth for such sikc acts). All the boys who have been abused should be funded by the government for rehabilitation etc.

Its a shame to biccu's. The govt should now make laws that neither anyone who wear orange robes nor any criminals with shaven head can become biccus .This applies to Hela Urumaya babies who is after power and money but not the great Buddha's philosaphy. If this is not arrested there will be more and more brothels.

Please correct your headline to “Man in disguised of a Buddhist Monk arrested for running a brothel of boy prostitutes” because if this man is a real Buddhist Monk he would never run a brothel house.

Child ordination is nothing but Child Abuse irrespective of the religious denomination. The authorities should come down hard on this.
