LTTE back in Thoppigala; one soldier killed in clash
(Lanka-e-News, November 29, 2008, 11.00 AM) One soldier was killed in a clash with the LTTE at Inguruwaththa, Pokuraniya area in Thoppigala last night (27). Army spokesman Brigadier udaya Nanayakkara said that he was unaware of the damages to the LTTE.

This is the first clash between Army and LTTE after Thoppigala was captured and an operation was underway to arrest the Tigers.

Meanwhile, an unidentified gunman shot and killed a 31 year old youth 27th night at Mosque Road, Kathankudi in Batticaloa district. The victim's mother was also injured and admitted to hospital.
Another 24 year old youth was shot and killed by unknown gunmen near Mavadiwembu Kali Amman Kovil in Eravur and one more young person was injured in the shooting.
