The Foreign Minister said that the UN had requested the government for an action of this sort and as a positive response to it the military attacks would be suspended temporarily. He urged the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Ealam (LTTE) to free the civilians. He said that the government would be vigilant since the Tamil Tigers also could enter the state-administered areas together with the civilians.
The Minister further said that the government would consider in future the time frame of the suspension of attacks. |
