(Lanka-e-News, March 31, 2009, 5.55PM) Sri Lankan Army 58 Division yesterday (30) captured an LTTE TATA Cab mounted with 12.7mm Anti Aircraft machine gun during counter LTTE operations carried out in the Iranapali area, Puthukkudiyiruppu East.
Battlefield sources said that Army soldiers have successfully repulsed an LTTE bid to breach the forward boundary in the afternoon causing heavy damages to the LTTE. Five bodies of slain LTTE cadres have been collected with five T-56 riffles and one radio communication set. According to the sources, the soldiers have not only crushed the terrorist assault but also pushed their forward boundaries further in to the remaining LTTE hiding areas, causing the LTTE to lose the support weapon they had brought in to the battle.
