A museum on pre-historic era at Embilipitiya shortly
(Lanka-e-News 30.June.2009 1.00PM) New museum is to be set up in historically important Ranchamadama area in Embilipitiya and it will exhibit the pre-historic era, Chief Minister of Sabaragamuwa province Mahipala Herath said.

According to the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Archaeologists have uncovered nine tombs in Ranchamadama school premises. It has been proved that the tombs had been built over 3000 years ago. It is considered the oldest human grave yard in Sri Lanka.

Sabaragamuwa University will provide moral support to construct the museum while the Ministry of Cultural Affairs will financially support the project..
