Court orders SSP Vaas's son arrest and prevents him from leaving country.
(Lanka-e-News 15.Aug.2009 6.30PM) The Kaduwela Additional District Judge and Magistrate Manilal Prasanna De Silva ordered the immediate arrest of prime suspect and student of SLIIT, Ravindu Gunawardena, son of SSP, Colombo Crime Division, Vaas Gunawardena over charges of abduction, assault and illegal detention committed on another student of SLIIT campus, Nipuna Ramanayake.

The Magistrate who examined the petition also issued an order to the Immigration and Emigration Dept. to prevent the suspect from leaving the country.

Aturugiriya Police told that, based on the complaint made by Seneviratne another SLIIT student, Nipuna was forcibly abducted in a Jeep at gun point by those who came in the Jeep. This vehicle belonged to the Colombo Crime Division.
The suspect Ravindu Gunawardena has still not been arrested and the Aturugirya Police is continuing investigations.
