| For the first time in SL’s Police history, Tamil youths are being interviewed in Jaffna for appointments |

(Lanka-e-News, Sep.29, 2009, 6.45PM) IGP Jayantha Wickremeratne stated that, for the first time in SL’s history of the Police, Tamil youths were being interviewed in the North yesterday (28) for selection to the Police Force. Over 5000 youths with the hope of joining had come for the interview.
It is after 30 years, youths of the North are going to be selected to the Police force. In the earlier times, the candidates were summoned to Colombo. An unexpected crowd of youths turned up for the interview and stood in queues from morning, the IGP added.
Interviews will be conducted today and tomorrow at Jaffna, Chavakacheri, Theripalle. Kayts, Kankesanturai Police divisions, the IGP further revealed. |

SP, A.A.P. Jayakodi who is the director of the Police recruitment Division said, the Jaffna police station interviews were held at the Duraiyappah stadium and about 2000 youths turned up .The interviews were conducted at five venues in Jaffna. 500 female candidates too attended the interviews. Of them 50 have been selected. In addition, among the youths, over 400 have been selected, he added.
These interviews are being conducted to recruit police constables, women police constables and police drivers. |
