‘Maganeguma’ Chairman’s room rent is Rs.200,000/- per day!!
(Lanka-e-News, Sep.30, 2009, 6.20PM) The Room rent of the Chairman of the controversial ‘Maganeguma’ project is Rs.200.000/- per day!! The Maga neguma which had come under heavy criticism from the Opposition parties for the magnitude of its alleged frauds and corruption devouring people’s monies has now commenced removing its emblems from its vehicles.

The removal of the Maga Neguma emblems is being done at its Maganeguma vehicle yard these days. Already a crane truck bearing No. 5274 and a crew cab No. 7513 have been divested of these emblems.
Maganeguma Chairman Jaliya Kulasekera on most occasions stays at the Hilton Hotel paying a room rent of US Dollars 1800 per day. In SL Rupees, at the present conversion rate of Rs.115/- per dollar amounts to Rs.200,000/- nearly. In other words, his room rent is Rs.60,00,000/- per month.!

The Maganeguma comes under the purview of the President.

The monthly rent allowance for a Minister is Rs.100,000/-. Who is paying this colossal rent of Rs.60,00,000/- per month of the Maga Neguma Chairman?
Many millions worth equipments belonging to the Road development Authority have been transferred to the Maganeguma project. Now, the Govt. authorities allege that it is a private Company and therefore, its accounts cannot come under the COPE inquiry, Ministers of the Govt. declared in Parliament recently.

Sometime ago, the Opposition stirred up an Islandwide agitation that the controversial Deniyaya palace is being built on Maga Neguma funds and resources.

What kind of room is this? Even a double room in a five star hotel, in Sri Lanka, will not cost anything more than US $ 60 to 70. This is really outrageous, if it is only true. Gentlemen, this is public money. You are in this luxury now but your final resting place take only a nominal sum as just one time payment and no further rental. For god sake please be reasonable to your own countrymen, don't ever cheat them. You will one day have to answer for this.

Oh my Good God, why can't these dudes pack up and altogether go and live in the "Heavens"! Only problem is they have to die to do so. But, are'n there enough 'cynide' capsules available so that they can go there before you say Jack Robinson. What a heinous crime it is when we all suffer in the light of "soaring prices of essentials"!!!

Are you sure the room rate per day is US $ 1800 ? Is it a presidential suite or what? This rate is quite on the high side compared with usual room rates.
