Service extension for Sri Lankan failure ambassador in Rome

(Lanka-e-News 30.Oct.2009 1.45PM) Sri Lankan Ambassador, mr.Hemantha Warnakulasuriya has become a news creator as a result of his indecent behavior, inefficiency, corruption, contribution to Golden Key, and failure to perform as an active diplomat. Yet, the political leadership of the country has approved for six months extension for him. Many Sri Lankans in Italy were astonished to hear this news as the political leadership of the country has clearly indicated that he would be removed when his period is over.

This reminds us two things. One is corrupted people always have protection. The other thing is the political leadership of the country has no clue about what is going on Italy or they do not wish to get maximum benefits from Italy.

As we all know EU adopted a resolution on Sri Lanka. It was very negative. We never heard Mr.Warnakulasuriya meeting Italy politicians to present our point of view to defeat the resolution. Had he done something, Sri Lanka could be able at least to convince our side of the story. According to our information, Mr.warnakualsuriya is not accepted in Italy as a diplomat from a friendly country due to his inappropriate conducts. Italy is an important country. At this crucial point of history we need a carrier diplomat who could do something for the country as the Ambassador Ravinatha does. We know that EU might make many more moves against Sri Lanka. In order to face these challenges we need an able team of diplomats and not some political jokers who even could not chase a bird in a paddy field. Or else those who cannot remember what they eat in the morning.

Italy introduced tough immigration laws. As a result many Sri Lankans have to leave the country. It also stopped accepting Sri Lankan driving liceses last May. This prevented many Sri Lankans getting jobs as drivers. In Italy, 4 out of 10 Sri Lankans need a driving license. Yet, the Ambassador Warnakulasuriya is in deep slumber. He did not appeal against this decision. But Bangladesh did and they got some concession. When the Italy declared an amnesty for illegal immigrants, he misled the Foreign Minister bogollagama, stating that over 40,000 Sri Lankans will be benefited from this. Yet, according to the reports, only about 4000 Sri Lankans have applied for visa under new rules.

We believe the time has come to take a decision on Mr.Warnakulasuriya. If our leaders are really interested in getting maximum benefits from Italy, and they are truly trying to help Sri Lankans, they should consider seriously appointing a capable Ambassador to Italy. Not a joker.

I think same thing happening in most of the countries especially in the Middle East as well. Foreign Service needs to reorganize to meet new challenges by getting proper consultation. These retarded officers has to do some thing else than disturbing country development.

Corrupted people always have protection under MR. The political leadership of the country has no idea about what is good and what is bad, and is not worried about country's dignity or at lease his own dignity. He does not care anything other than protecting his office.

It's a shame, 'EKAMUTHU SRI LANKANS IN ITALY'. How many news articles and petitions you have wrote against the ambassador. I think it's over 50. How many hours you all wasted for this. When read all your articles, it seems that, there is an invisible hand behind you. I'm sure it's a person who is eyeing the post. Pls don't use the term 'EKAMUTHU SRI LANKANS IN ITALY'. Majority of Sri Lankans in Italy Don't want to share the shame, -which you totally 'entitled', as the 'earning' for 2 years paper works.

If President can sack Dayan jayatilleke, Palipane from Japan, why is this man kept??? The only reason possible according to many Sri Lankans in Italy now is either Hemantha Warnakulasooriya did the Helping Hambantota favour OR he is telling President that his son-in-law Buddhika from UNP in Galle will be brought to the government side!!!
