Minister Siripala, a bundle of confusion –here is the list of 60 outdated drugs for which Minister must answer
(Lanka-e-News, Oct.30, 2009, 7.15PM) JVP Central Committee member Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa addressing a media briefing yesterday (29) at the JVP office, Pelawatte, Battaramiulla said, the Health Ministry has released a list of 60 drugs imported from foreign pharmaceutical Companies by the Govt. which are outdated.

The Govt. has purchased these drugs in October 2008. The expiry date of these drugs is in September 2009, Dr. Jayatissa stated referring to the list.
While our children and patients are dying because of these expired drugs, the Minister is to be confirmed a degree by these pharmaceutical Companies shows what sort of relationship this ‘killer’ Minister is having with those Companies, Dr.Jayatissa pointed out.

Answering a question posed by the media as to how Dr. Jayatissa could accuse that outdated drugs have been got down when the WHO President says that all tender procedures have been followed, Dr. Jayatissa replied, whether the drugs are outdated or not cannot be decided at the examination of tenders. If the rubella vaccines were not outdated how can students die after rubella administration in Matara, Kurunegala and Wariyapola. The Minister is bound to give answers to how children died and how glass pieces were found inside injection vials,

The list of 60 outdated drugs is given below.

When the innocent public are dieing due to these "callous, cold and CORRUPT" acts of the Ministry, "the Nero of the Minister" in his inimitable style of "indifference" to the agonies of the innocent public is jaunting in the company of the Big Boss! Doesn't that show the impunity he enjoys?

Dear Sir, Unlike in many countries, in Sri Lanka the medicinal tablets are sold in loose. The avoid this problem of out dated drugs being sold, the government should bring legislation to sell drugs in packed films with the expiry date printed on among other information such as the manufacturer, chemical composition etc; Since the poor Sri Lankan buy in small quantities the packages should be made in multiple of sizes to suit their requirement too.

The minister is not incompetent to do this duties. He must resign immediately.... I president doesn't have the backbone to get rid of these irresponsible ministers. This must be one of his elections pledges.

The minister and all responsible involve person in this matter must bring to the justice. the Custom officers who release this drugs must also be responsible. This is a real joke killing poor people. This is not the first time they did this-purchesing rubbish and taking money to pocket.

Siripala must have been worried so much if these outdated drugs are returned, the supplier would deduct his commission and would prefer if he can cheat peoples mind and by pulling another issue to cover up the case and issue these drugs again to kill people. The size of Siripala's belly depicts the size of commission he has earned.Siripala is not suitable for this post and most suitable to MR's pakkily services.
