 (Lanka-e-News, Nov.30, 2009, 8.30PM) SLFP Treasurer and Minsiter Dulles Alahaperuma speaking to the media at SLFP propaganda Headquarters today (30) said, he also suspects that there are threats to the life of General Sarath Fonseka because as all those around him on his stage are LTTE friends.
When a journalist questioned as to what was the stance of the Govt. to Fonseka’s statement ‘I have handed over my life to the people. It is possible that I could be killed’ which appeared in a weekend newspaper after Fonseka’s security detail was reduced by the Govt., the Minister went on to explain thus.
Even Janaka Perera faced this threat.What happened to Lucky Algama? All those around them were LTTE friends. That is why they got killed. Sarath Fonseka is also faced with the same threat due to the same problem. We are also suspicious as a result. We also warn him to be careful. |

The Minister said the ruling party is ready for elections and gave details thereof.
Though it is not the practice to speak of the earlier election announcements at the subsequent elections, the Alliance forthcoming elections announcement continues on the ‘Mahinda chintana. All programs are included in it to put SL at the top in the 21st century. I welcome him as the common candidate of the four opposition parties, but what I regret is he has started his political life with the old enemies. The earlier Commanders could not complete the war because they did not get the right political leaders. Therefore I would like to tell not to speak about the Army’s weaknesses and insult the Army which is full of brave officers. |
