The General who took treatment from the Army Doctors had no family Doctor –Anoma
(Lanka-e-News 31.March.2010 11.25PM) Anoma Fonseka addressing a media briefing today (31) said, she had made written requests to the National Red Cross and the International Human rights Organization to intervene , as the SL Govt. does not consider that a specialist Medical Doctor is required to treat her husband , Gen. Fonseka.

Even after her requesting the Navy Commander to provide a specialist to examine the General, the Navy commander has said the specialist is reluctant . This is because of Govt’.’s vindictive aims holding General Fonseka in wrongful detention . Because the General is in the custody of the Navy , the specialist is fearing reprisals from the Govt. if he treats Fonseka . He is unable to do his duty without fear , she pointed out.

We did not have a family Doctor. From the outset Gen. Fonseka received medical treatment from the Army Doctors. I asked the authorities to provide a Doctor through that panel. But that request has not been granted yet. Even the Supreme Court decisions are not being implemented because there is a Ruthless monstrous Force overriding them , she lamented.

I have not made any requests from Army spokesman. I only asked from the Navy commander to provide specialist treatment . What is important for the General is an environment of pure air and ventilation . I had made this request repeatedly. On the contrary what they did was, they put a net to the window of his bedroom which is within an enclosure.
Only I am compelled to speak about the General’s sufferings , because it is only I am allowed to see the General despite the Court order to allow relatives to visit him , she noted.

Even the ordinary prisoners are allowed to see his relatives. They have permission to move around and go into the open. My husband hasn’t even these basic facilities , she bemoaned.

Anoma should appeal to the red cross or human rights organisations outside Lanka.
