Abduction and disappearance: a new three wheeler method replacing the white Van –here is the crystal clear evidence!
(Lanka-e-News, July 12, 2010, 10.10AM) During the recent past, an armed group had arrived in white Vans and three wheelers, and had abducted 12 individuals in Maligawatte and Kotahena areas.

Three wheelers instead of white Vans being used for abduction is the latest fad.

Even after two years since the war ended, these abductions and disappearances by white Vans and three wheelers seem to be not ending.

Some of the abductees are alleged as linked to the underworld while others do not know why they were abducted. Among the 12 abductees, there is a 17 year old Tamil student.

Following the killing of Aruna Rajapakse of Mihindu Mawatha, Pettah by an underworld gang of that area, under the orders of the Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapakse a special unit comprising special task Force officers has been appointed with a view to destroying the underworld.

The appointment of this special unit is because, though Aruna Rajapakse was killed, still the suspect in that murder case, Gunasinghapura Dhinutha has not been arrested by the Police nor by this new unit, according to the residents of the area.

Whether the abductions and disappearances that occurred during the period of the war and thereafter were committed by groups linked to the Govt. or by any other, it is the right of the relatives of the victims to know the fate of these victims, for which the Govt. is duty bound to provide answers.

The relatives of the victims claim that though these acts of abductions and disappearances were committed ostensibly to destroy the underworld by creation of ‘units’, these were more at the behest of politicians, their murder gangs and those hired for money on contracts.

It is reported that, ‘Nawala Nihal’ and ‘football Roshan’ (former SL football team captain) were killed on the pretext that it became widely known they had committed crimes against society, but truly, they were killed to gratify the whim of a Govt. linked politico from Borella.

National security media spokesman Lakshman Hulugalle speaking regarding those abductees says, they would have run away for personal reasons or must have eloped with their girl friends. But, the parents, spouses, children and relatives of the victims tell a story diametrically opposite. They claim that they know who are the abductors and have concrete evidence, yet the law is not being enforced. Hereunder are their stories backed by palpable evidence.

Ms. Sithy Marliya (28 years old)
-----------------------------------
Ilmi Jihai Ahamed Abdulla is my husband.(25 years old). Giving carts on hire was his occupation. He was abducted at 12.00 noon on 5th May 2010 when he was at Nisabu street, Maligawatte. A white Defender van bearing number GE 7030 had abducted him. When he was being bundled into the Van, he had asked who these abductors are?. They have told they are from the Police. They have also shown an identity card. No sooner I heard that my husband was abducted than I rushed to the Keselwatte Police to make a complaint. The Police did not accept my complaint. Only on the following day they accepted the complaint. I made a complaint to the Human rights commission too. Now, it is 1 ½ months since my husband was abducted. There isn’t a single complaint against my husband in the Police. I have two small children.

Mohomed Niyas (59 years)
-------------------------
My son’s name is M K M Muzammil (38 years old). He was running a foreign employment agency at Maradana. My birth place is at 67/112, Quraishani Mowlana place, Dematagoda. My son was living with his wife at Hunupitiya. Every Friday, he comes to see us at Dematagoda. He is a member of the Board of trustees of the main mosque. He had been abducted when he was going after seeing us on 7th May 2010. There had been a white Van No. 59 – 0379 parked opposite the office of the UPFA Western province member Daya Kantha Perera (Bindu). In that Van was a top rung Police officer with three stars and three others in civil attire. The area residents have seen them having weapons in their hands. As my son passed the Van, he was pulled into the Van, and the Van has sped at lightning speed. We went to the Dematagoda Police. Later we went to the Dematagoda Police unit too. They said they know nobody fitting the description. We then went to the Fort Police. Earlier the chief police officer of the Dematagoda police even refused to accept a complaint. However, he subsequently wrote down the complaint. We went everywhere possible in search of my son without avail. My son has two children. One of them died of dengue. He is our only son. The other four children are girls. Now two months have elapsed since he was abducted. Until today, there is no information about his whereabouts. We do not even know why he was abducted. My son has never dabbled in ‘kudu’ business or lived on extortion. If he has committed a wrong punish him via the legal process. Please do not kill him. He is our only son.

Mohomed Saleem Mohomed Mihilan (60)
-----------------------------------

Mohomed Milal Mohomed akram alias Manjal Akram is my son. He is 33 years old. He was a vegetable seller. He had 4 ‘thattus’ at the Maligawatte pola. When my son was with his wife at a Hotel in Nuwara Eliya, in the night of 09-10-2010, a white Van No. LF 7555 with armed men have come and abducted my son. Among the abductors there were several persons in police uniform. They have claimed that my son is being arrested by the Excise Dept. Since of late my son was addicted to ‘kudu’. At the insistence of the daughters in law my son went to Nuwara Eliya to take treatment. The daughter in law informed us my son was abducted. We went to the Maligawate Police to make a complaint, but they did not write down our complaint. My son has five small children. At the last general election my son worked for MP Duminda Siva and Azad Salie of the UPFA.

Meanwhile, two other persons, Mohomed Nizam of 159 D 17 and Riyaz Nizar of 120, 28/2, both of Maligawatte place had also been abducted because they had worked for Gen. Sarath Fonseka at the Presidential elections.

Others who have been abducted and have disappeared are…

Mohomed Shahul Hameed Mazeer of Maligawatte, R. Ramakrishna Nilakeshwaran, 17 years old, an A /L student of ST. Johns College and Mutulingam Udayakumar, 17 years of age of Kotahena. Four others also have gone missing following abductions.

No court justice work with these morons. If they are in prison they use it as safe house for all kind of wrong doing. They buy heroin not use but sell to general public. In maradana area its not hard to find 12-13 old’s addicted to get high. Collect bribes from innocent traders, kill, rape, assault with no evidence. Last 20-30 years Sri Lankan govt. wasted time and money with out a success. Underworld Mafioso’s are only second to terrorism. in fact some of them collaborated with LTTE. now its pay back time.

It is Crystal Clear that these people were well known underground criminals who killed more than 30 people. What's on earth are you expecting from hiding their crimes. If you are a journalist, should write the balance story saying that these are most wanted killers, not vegetable sellers. Shame on you, editor. Donot buy anything for your kids from the money you earn from this. It is cursed.
