Lanka e News electricity supply disconnected: our profound apologies for the temporary delay in the posting of news
(Lanka-e-News 17.July.2010 11.55PM) The owner of the premises where the Lanka e news website office is being run is making efforts to evict us from the premises , our electricity supply was disconnected today despite our having paid the electricity bills regularly for twelve long years.

Consequent upon this , our website could not provide the news to our valued viewers of the website for a while . Lanka e news deeply regrets the inconvenience caused to our viewers due to this unforeseen sudden mishap .

Lanka e news shall be very grateful if there is anybody who can help us with providing a place on a reasonable rent to run our establishment in or around Rajagiriya peacefully.

Please communicate on info@lankaenews.com with details.

according to the Electricity Act it is the owner or the occupier who has to be given electricity as the supply would have been in the owners name the owner would have got it disconnected as you are the occupier you could apply for a connection and the supply authority will have to give it. Also consult the Public utilities commission who is administerring the Electricity Act

Yours is the only website worth reading. Its like having a news paper in hand and getting updated. At present all newspapers simply "follow the rules" for their survival. Only yours stands up and provides us with the opportunity to read and express our opinion. The owner of your premises must be definitely under pressure from the current regime to try and disrupt your operation so that this one single independent voice too can be eliminated. And they can carry on with all their deeds without this "nuisance". It will be a tragedy if this happens especially for thousands like me who eagerly read your website every day. I am from outside Colombo and not currently resident in Sri Lanka. I only hope that there will be some way out of this debacle and somebody would help you with your request. I am sure that we all agree (even if sometimes we disagree with your comments and style of reporting) that we need you to function without any disruption.
