Nishantha who traveled abroad 32 times in just 15 months prepares to send senior officers home
(Lanka-e-News, July 19, 2010, 11.15PM) The Senior employees of the Sri Lanka Cricket Association (SLCA) claim that the Secretary of the Sri Lanka interim administration Committee, Nishantha Ranatunge by abusing his powers and position is engaged in dismissing the former test cricketers associated with the administration from their posts.

It is reported that Duleep Mendis who was functioning as the chief Executive officer of the SLCA for a long time, former Manager of the SLCA Brendon Kuruppu, former SLCA Assist. Coach Chandika Haturusinghe and SLCA Development Manager Charith Senanayake, all of whom are former cricketers have all come under the sharp blade of Nishantha Ranatunge’s guillotine.
It is revealed that while Duleep Mendis is the chief Executive, a new additional Chief Executive post has been created, and Ajith Jayasekera has been appointed to that post with a plan to disrupt the duties of Duleep Mendis. To carry out the development work of Charith Senanayake, others have been appointed by this Secretary.

Brendon Kuruppu and Chandika Haturusinghe have been expelled from their posts without adducing any reason.
The employees of the Association complain that this Secretary who is taking unilateral decisions and acting in a high handed manner exploiting his position has during just last 15 months traveled abroad 32 times at SLCA‘s expense!.

Nishantha Ranatunge has even sidelined and elbowed out the SLCA Executive officer for the international Cricket Council conference for Executive officers, and has himself attended it. So far, the expenditure incurred by the SLCA owing to his foreign trips is over Rs. 6 million.!

Nishantha, DS, the Dandeniya brothers and many others were put into SLC through power and political influence. None of these guys would have been at SLC if the selections were done on merit. Well, in that case, the Minister should not be there too.

Mr President give power to the sport minister to eradicate the mulpractises in the cricket board and to uplift the image. We Sri Lankans love the game more than anything.

To what low levels can Ajith jayesekera resort to , in usurping a fellow Thomian Cricketer. Ajith also wrote a defensive reply to malpractices. Are DS, Nish and Ajith scratching each others bums for their benefits.I have lost all respect for Ajith. As a former cricketer and Airforce man with admin experience unlike DS who has had not even school education and not an iota of admin experience and a time server, i am appaled at Ajiths stand. Rudra

Arjuna Ranatunga, while you are all for a corruption-free society, see what your sibling is up to. Can't you have a word with your bro to drive some sense into him? Like charity, your crusade to clean up the country, should begin at home.

Nishantha has all the hallmarks of an uneducated thug and these are the new rich who are otherwise ruining cricket and wasting funds which may have been better utilised for the benefit of poor desrving cricketers. After all he is a RANATUNGA basking in political influence. Are the POLITICANS fiddling while Rome (Cricket) is burning. Unless something is done even now including removing Nishantha and the Chairman who is a laughing stock in the International communuty, there will be no FUNDS come World CUP time. Jayalal
