Don’t write about molestation charge against the Judge (Sarath mahathaya)-‘Daily Mirror’ paper pressurized
(Lanka-e-News 22.July.2010 10.20PM) It is reported that the Wijaya publications Establishment has requested to stop publishing all news regarding the molestation charges against the Appeal Court judge involved in the act of seduction of a 20 year old girl employed in his house as a servant.

Abiding by this request , the Daily Mirror has not published today (22) whatever news which was to be revealed in connection with this alleged molestation case against this judge.

Shame! Why don't anybody look into and say what relationship that this brute judge has to Mahajara's family or CJ's family.

It's only a request. Don't worry.

This is sheer impotence in the face of facts. If this is the case with a so-called "most widely circulated" independent newspaper, you can imagine the quality of the rest of the bunch. Daily Mirror is simply caving in and compromising its primary duty by the reader who reads this journal for facts. By this act of cowardice Daily Mirror is insulting the intelligence of its readers. We thought Vijaya Publications had more guts than this. Their capitulation is pathetic. I just read the LEN Sinhala web site and noted that there is genuine indignation being expressed by several intellectuals over this issue and urging the authorities for the implementation of proper course of action. The lackadaisical attitude of the police is a very common factor. They are mainly there not to ensure "justice" but to protect the interests of all sorts of individuals who wield power at the cost of "justice". We hope and pray that LEN will continue this path and present facts as they are regardless of individuals and power-bases.

Shows the status of legal profession, justice system and freedom of expression in this so called Democratic Socialist Republic! Top politicians as well as judges who toe their line are all above the law and they can do any dirty thing and save their skins. Sri Lanka has already reached the level of those banana republics.

Do you still want to call this beast 'Mahathaya'? He is an insult to other genuine Sarath's and all real mahathaya's.

Requested by whom? Is this political or administrative interference in the freedom of expression?
