KP is an asset to the Govt.: If necessary we will even tame a dragon for our use –Keheliya

(Lanka-e-News 29.July.2010 10.20pm) The Govt. does not view the Tamil international Diaspora now in the same way as it did in the past. Today there is also a Diaspora which is against the LTTE. KP has been a great asset to the Govt. in establishing links with the Tamil Diaspora which is against the LTTE.

These announcements were made by the present Minister for media and information Keheliya Rambukwella who at that time when he was the former Minister of Security described KP as a deadly terrorist and internationally recognized leader of the LTTE.

The Minister explained as stated above when answering a question posed by the media at the Press briefing.

Questions from the media …

Q: Kumaran Pathmanathan alias KP in an interview with the ‘The Island ‘newspaper invited the Tamil people to render aid and assistance to the North East development programs. He also mentioned the account number to which the funds should be sent. But isn’t it a fact that KP was taken into custody on charges that he is a terrorist leader , LTTE international chain leader and finance division chief . Then , why is he not brought before the law of the country ?

A: The Minister’s answer to that was , after KP joined with the Govt. , the LTTE is now divided into two.

Q: Why is the Govt. not adopting the same policy followed in regard to KP in relation to the 7000 LTTE suspects held in custody too .Is the Govt. today trying to tame the dragon professedly for country’s benefit ?

A: There are times when a dragon too may have to be tamed and used if the occasion demands .
The Govt. is relentlessly trying to establish camaraderie with the Tamils after the war. Following the relationships the Govt. has initiated this camaraderie is growing . Moreover . K P is going to give evidence in favor of the Govt. in the event war crime charges are brought against the govt. , he added.

Q: Earlier too you said KP will be a witness in the war crime scenario. When the Lanka e news website interviewed the intelligentsia in this regard , Vasudeva Nanayakkara , a Govt. M P. told, the war crime charges are not only against the Govt. but is also against the LTTE . Hence , how can K P be made a Govt. witness ? he asked. What have you to say to this ?

A: Lawyers only know to give opinions. But the country’s laws are different and independent of opinions. The Govt. showing concern for the future of the country . It is jointly with KP , abiding by the constitution and the laws of the land , and expecting to launch development programs in the North and East .

Q: KP is a noted terrorist leader . If the Govt. is hoping to engage him jointly in the development programs , why cannot the Govt. on the same policy enlist the support of Gen. Fonseka who ushered in peace to this country and develop it?

A: That is a good proposal. In Parliament too this was proposed. We will consider this proposition in the future.

The man who collected the money and bought all the destructive arms to kill and injure hundreds of thousands of our own soldiers, civilians and even the clergy is slowly given'hero' status by pro government catchers and the media. The Army Commander who led the forces to victory is charged everyday with 'bogus' law suits. This government does not understand the basic norms of justice. Only thing I could say is there time will come.

Tamils living specially in EU/US/UK/Canada and other parts of the world contributed to the LTTE fund through Fear of getting killed or to avoid their relatives in Sri Lanka being made to torture and finally killed by the LTTE. Now the LTTE is no more active militarily the Tamil Community is free as any other citizen of Sri Lanka to do whatever they wish with their earnings either here or abroad. The Govt should not indirectly demand to contribute money to develop the North & East of the Country using KP who was one time the part of the extortion group of the LTTE. There are over a million Sinhalese in the Middle East. Has the govt demanded money from them in this manner ONLY for the development of the South of the Country???? IF not why demand only from the Tamils using one time LTTE leader which amounts to harrasement??? Is'nt it the responsibility of any Govt elected to find required funds for the development of the entire Country through democratic means without resorting to intimidatory tacticts either on the very people who elected them or on another Community ???? Besides what right the Govt has to harrase people ? However it is evident that the Govt is desperate for the money for unknown reason and using the same methods used by the LTTE to extort money. It is a fact that the LTTE now is even richer and perhaps in a position to lend to smaller countries. But it is surprising a GOVT with EXECUTIVE PRESIDENT who promised to wipe out the entire structure of the LTTE in the Country and abroad an year ago shamelessly trying to depend on the LTTE funds to develop North & East!!! What has happened to China & India ??? The Govt have very little knowledge of the LTTE strategies who one time had trained suicide cadres to die for their cause!!!!! Though the Govt rejoiced over the arrest of KP and the end of LTTE, it is the Govt who got trapped once again well & truely. The Govt as ususal is blind. This time the LTTE used wasted KP, a liability, as the bait to commit hara- kiri. THE GOVT SHOULD REMEMBER THAT THE LTTE AND THEIR FIRMLY ROOTED IDEALOGY IS NOT DEAD BUT HAVE SHIFTED THE FOCUS AND ELEVATED THEIR STRUGGLE TO THE NEXT LEVEL. " THEY ARE MATURED". Now with all what have been published by the media recently with various statements supposed have been given by the Govt Ministers and the defense Secretary in bold letters, THE GOVT CAN NEITHER INDICT KP( THE LIABILITY) NOR RELEASE HIM. The Govt once again HAS caught the Tiger by the Tail. Under the circumstances the MR. Minister is none but a Lord of rhetoric that deserves the DUST BIN.

Kheliya sounds to his deeds. Even selling the mother, wife or daughter to acheive what they want ??? Sad !! Mind US do not do such twists but send them to maximum security jails and extort the facts by any means. Never they house them in Palaces like where KP has been housed in Sri Lanka. People do such deals when they benifit personally. In this case let us find out who benifited personally from KPs invlovement. Truth will come to light very soon. Beaware Kheliya and the unscrupulous dealers.

Keheliya said it very well. This is something US forces do everyday in their fight against terror. Glad to see SL is adopting such tactics.....Does somebody have a problem with this? Only pro-terror breed can have problem with this.
