Many thanks to my friend Uvindu. You are absolutely correct. Cast system is still in this country. Don't forget it is still in all socialist (?) political parties also in SL. This cast system is being promoted and maintained by the Sinhal/Buddhist(?) temple and the backward conservatives/Sinhala chauvinists led by the temple. If some one says that there is no cast system in this country, it means he/she has no real political pulse or political experience. They don’t know what is actually happening behind the screen.They know nothing.

Any one who mention others "kulaya" is not educated including this uneducated writer. Kulaya is only a reference to the original occupations people were doing during kings period and they were skilled in such occupations for generations. There is no difference between a farmer and a pottery maker or a fisherman. When you die everybody rots and stinks exactly the same regardless of their castes "kulaya". We have only one "kulaya" i.e Human caste "Manusya Kulaya"

Though what Uwindu says is true, general Fonseka represents the whole Sri Lankans, irrespective of any particular cast or race. When he liberated the country from LTTE, he did not liberate any particular cast or group of people but everybody living in this country. Therefore, when we vote for him it will be a vote given to a hero who gave a real MEANING to the lives of people who perished and who became disabled in the battle field. Therefore, friends(those who love this great man) please don't allow this dirty topic of cast issue to play a role in this election. If you are a Buddhist, you will understand that it is the actions of a person which will define whether that person is a noble one or not and NOT his cast or race or any other variable (Wasala Suthra). We all know who the Wasalaya is, in that sense. God bless you general, nobody or no power can stop you becoming the next president of this country. The writing on the wall is damn clear on that.
