Song that puts Maithri on illusory pedestal of King is a ‘Buffalo style song’ -Prof. Sarath Wijesuriya (Video)

(Lanka-e-News- 15.Jan.2016, 11.50PM)  The official song produced in cunjunction with president Maithripala’s first anniversary celebrations of his presidential victory , and which mounts him on an illusory pedestal of a ‘king’ has been dubbed as ‘Gonpart song’ (buffalo style song)  by no less a person than Professor Sarath Wijesuriya.

The professor made this comment at the ceremony held in connection with the launch of his book  ‘ Hudakalawa’

“A lot of sorrowful results can follow  when individuals  fulfil the obnoxious agendas of  time servers and opportunistic scoundrels  who are anxiously waiting to take advantage of situations. The abominable song composed to commemorate the first anniversary of Maithripala’s investiture  can be construed as  a symbol to whitewash   Maithripala’s feudal vision .It was possible to witness countless full page advertisements with sponsorship of government Institutions .

The president’s swearing in ceremony inspired the people with hope and happiness. Though the  president’s pledge was  he would not use public funds for advertisements truly won the respect of the people, unbelievably this pledge was torn into shreds within a year, and the example  people expected of him evaporated into thin air. If that is not the case , how can such a ‘gonpart song’ be composed, and such advertisements be  published out of public funds? Who were those responsible for this ? These  were done by ghosts who are bootlickers and scoundrels , the professor pointed out.

A  most strange spectacle was witnessed when this revelation was being made by the professor :   such a   bootlicking ghost  and  servile scoundrel by the name of  Karunaratne Paranavitharne, the deputy minister  whom the description fitted best was  sitting in the front row , and listening to the professor most intently , and shamelessly.

This celebration was attended by former president Chandrika Kumaratunge , former chief justice Shirani Bandaranike and leaders of civil organizations.

One of the composers of this song speaking to Lanka e news said, this ‘buffalo style song’ was composed with the full consent and connivance of Maithripala; and when the videotaping was done , the president participated of his own accord. Moreover after the completion, it was shown to the president and his approval obtained, and it was subsequently the state media publicity was given.

Therefore , after this video footage became the target of scathing criticism , the president’s secretary saying , the president was unaware is an absolute lie, the composer pinpointed.

Part of the speech delivered by Professor Sarath Wijesuriya is in the video footage herein

The meritious merry buffalo-song suits His Excellency superbly well indeed because real traditional farmers from the former rice bowl of Sri Lanka used to spend all day long toiling in the fields, scantily clad in amudés - which of course, undoubtadly is the forerunner to modern day G-strings frowned upon by modern purists and pundits alike - with palace-protected buffalos alongside for good company.
