Ranil takes full advantage of world economic Forum :reaps many benefits for country ! Picture report…

 (Lanka-e-News- 23.Jan.2016, 4.45PM)   ‘While taking into consideration what  special rules and regulations prevail in HongKong and Dubai , special unique rules and regulations shall be introduced pertaining to the Si Lanka’s Colombo Port  ,with a view to make the SL  Port an economic and financial zone ,’ prime minister (P.M.) Ranil Wickremesinghe revealed when participating in a live discussion with the Deutsche Welle television channel , Germany .

The P.M. made this disclosure when he attended the World economic forum  held in DaVos city , Switzerland… 

 ‘Our aim is to develop Sri Lanka (SL) , to be the economic headquarter of Asia. We are now preparing the necessary groundwork towards that. A bright future for the children of our country  and a secure society for the elders can be built only through a burgeoning and methodical economy.  Hence plans are afoot to commence 40 high Industrial development zones across the whole country.Those economic development zones  will be identified as   special separate sectors ,’ the P.M. highlighted.

This was the first time SL was afforded an opportunity to paricipate in the world economic conference , and SL’s P.M. Ranil Wickremesinghe took full advantage of it to reap the maximum benefits for the country. Among those are ….

*Meeting with the president of the Asian development bank Thakehiko Nakao , and securing his consent to provide relief in regard to the unbearable loan burdens of SL owing to  borrowings made in the past  from various banks indiscriminately; as well as inducing the  specialists of the Asian development bank to consent to render assistance to SL. 

*Meeting with Mark Rutte, the P.M.of Netherlands , the world’s second largest agriculture exporting country .The most pleasant shock is  , next week itself , a team is to visit SL to give expert advice in regard to  water management and the agriculture  sphere . It was also ageed to extend the fullest support to curb and control the widespread kidney disease , as well as to launch a project to provide street lighting at cheap rates. The SL P.M. recalled to  the Netherlands P.M. the days when Netherlands ruled SL during the Dutch era , and that 8 of its fortresses are still extant. The Netherlands P.M. in turn said , he would arrange to hand over copies of the historic documents relating to SL for the use of the SL historians.

*Meeting with Sweden’s P.M. Stefan Lofven , and successfully negotiating the lifting of the ban on fish imposed by Europe , and reinstating  the GSP plus relief . It was in addition agreed to improve the eco technology in SL.Since Sweden is seeking permanent membership in the UN security council , the Sweden P.M. had told ,  SL ‘s support in that direction is anticipated. 

*Meeting with Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandra Babu was also fruitful : it was agreed that the SL Buddhist city ; Andhra’s ancient  Buddhist city Amarawathi ; and Tamil nadu be developed as one tourism cultural zone .

*Meeting with John Philip Kotish, the chairman of Microsoft Co. also was most successful : The world famous Microsoft Co. had consented  to sign a technology  agreement with SL to provide education and to digitalise the social  protective sphere free of charge.

* P.M. Ranil Wickremesinghe also met with  the P.M. of Turkey , Ahamet Dawutoglu as well as the founder cum executive chief  of World economic conference , Professor Klaus Schwab ,with whom he had  very useful discussions.
