(Lanka-e-News -15.March.2016, 11.30PM) All the Unversity Dons of Kelaniya University have decided to boycott the lectures and practicals classes for the students except those of the freshers . This is a sequel to threats posed to the Dons following the latter’s request to the senior students of the Kelaniya University main student association to halt their ‘ragging’ (harassment) of the freshers and obstructing them from attending lectures. This Kelaniya University main student association is linked to the controlling committee of the Inter University students Federation which is well noted as a tool of the Peratugami party that is noted for taking to the street and staging protests over nothing worthwhile – the favorite occupation of theirs based more on meaningless and baseless grounds and less on valid grounds.
This boycott of the Dons began yesterday (14) at 12.00 noon , and as a result of this protest the academic activities at the Kelaniya University ground to a halt. The Kelaniya main student association the tool of the Peratugami party however says, they are engaged in introducing the freshers cordially , and they are not subjecting them to inhuman treatment .
The University Dons on the other hand claim , that is an absolute lie , and the freshers are being persecuted inhumanly through ragging , and they are not even being allowed to attend lectures.
The Peratugami party that is run and monitored by Kumar Gunaratnam who is now incarcerated based on criminal charges against him of violating Immigration and Emigration laws , is an abhorred party that is disdained for standing by the rights of even despised Kondaya . Being such a deplored and detested party , it is naturally using its tool to obstruct the studies and inflict brutal harassment on the innocent students (University freshers) , thereby depriving them of their right to education. What is most rudely shocking and reprehensible is the Inter University students federation which should espouse justice on behalf of the victimized students too remaining deaf and blind to all these tortures which are being committed right before it.
The Civil Organizations that are vehemently and unrelentingly insisting Kumar Gunaratnam shall be released , are behaving like deaf and blind mutes turning a blind eye to the barbaric and brutal conduct of the students who are his slavish cronies and lackeys wickedly inspired by his primitive crude leadership.
The lowliest level to which this disgraceful conduct has descended can be gauged from the fact that the freshers during the whole of their first year of studies are compelled to wear a pleated skirt , a blouse made of cheetha material, and rubber slippers . The hair too must be tied in a single plait. Nothing fashionable is allowed . If by any chance this order is breached ruthless punishment awaits the fresher . Obviously , these cannot be the laws introduced by sane and sensible individuals , and therefore they can only be from the mentally deranged and unhinged Peratugami barbaric brutes from the loony bins and garbage dump.
In the circumstances , the Kelaniya University Dons who have bravely ,boldly and justifiably come forward against these Peratugami beasts and barbaric brutes, and their tortures must be given fullest support and encouragement by the pro good governance masses not only today , but every day.
It is a pity that ragging which was intended to do good to University life and a boon has been deliberately made a bane by barbaric brutes and beasts like Kumar Gunaratnam .Under the guise of espousing the cause of students who are not mature enough to percieve the selfish and ulterior motives of devil incarantes like Kumar Gunaratnam , they are finally pliunged into doom and despair.
