LeN report bears fruit –P.M. ‘Mr. Clean’ lives up to his name ! rescinds Vauxhall street corrupt deal in toto ! Auditor General to investigate

(Lanka-e-News -25.March.2016, 9.00AM) The exposure made  by Lanka e news on the 22nd has borne fruit. The massive corrupt deal depriving the state of many millions of rupees that was engineered by ex president Mahinda Rajapakse ( by now a byword for corruption and frauds ) via a cabinet paper in respect of a land at Vauxhall street , Colombo 2 has  been completely halted by the government of good governance following the Lanka e news report . The government has decided to rescind that transaction in toto.

The government has accepted the recommendation made by the Parliamentary COPE committee to cancel that transaction. The government has also decided to entrust the task of probing into the corruption involved in this land transaction to the Auditor General.

On the 22nd , Lanka e news published a report  under the caption ‘Colombo land corrupt deal of Rajapakses depriving State of Rs. 780 million revenue surfaces………’.

However there was an error  in that report. Lanka e news stated the extent of land was 130 perches ,whereas the actual extent of the land is much more - 372 perches. The deal was transacted between a gentleman  by the name of Paint and Kandy Tyre house pvt. Co. The plan of the land is herein.

The market vaue of a perch of the land is Rs. 12 million . Yet Mahinda Rjapakse had transferred that at a price as low as Rs. 4 million per perch. The government of good governance sought to steer the transaction forward at Rs. 6 million per perch forward without cancelling Mahinda’s corrupt ridden cabinet paper. Even then , because of the huge price discrepancy vis a vis  the market value , Lanka e news exposed the colossal loss that would result to the state owing to this deal. In any case ,now that the extent is known as 372 perches which is much more than what was previously thought ,the loss to the state  would have been Rs. 2230 million and not just Rs. 780 million!

In  the concluding paragraph of our report we said ,

‘If  Ranil Wickremesinghe the P.M.has need to continue to be described as ‘Mr. Clean,’ this deal should be halted forthwith  and this  State transaction should be done  duly again with foresight.’

The P.M. has accordingly lived  up to his pet name  ‘Mr. Clean’ by rescinding this corrupt deal in toto of the   ‘nefarious decade ‘ of the Rajapakses   . We salute the P.M.  for that. However his relatives must also see to it that the reputation of ‘Mr. Clean’ is not tarnished.

I am proud of my Prime Minister !!! We still have a lot of hope in our country. People may forget that a little over a year ago we were looking at a failed state.
