Right to information bill- Opinion of SC :only minor amendments , referendum, two third majority unnecessary

(Lanka-e-News -05.May.2016, 3.25PM) The opinion of the supreme court (SC) that the right to information bill can be passed with a simple majority in parliament , was handed over to the speaker  with some minor amendments to it .

In accordance with the SC decision  , there is no need of a referendum or a two third majority in parliament to pass the bill. 

The SC has notified that the amendment shall be only in relation to the right to information pertaining to judicial affairs , and that is concerning two technical  words  .

The panel of judges that delivered this verdict was comprised of justices Sri  Pavan , Anil Gunaratne and Nalin Perera.
