(Lanka-e-News -06.May.2014, 11.30PM) Following the bloody attack (the first ever blood spilling assault within Sri Lanka Parliament !) launched by Gampaha district SLFP M.P.Prasanna Ranaweera of the Mahinda Rajapakse group of uncouth murderous MPs , and Kalutara district government M.P. cum deputy minister of cultural affairs Palitha Thevaraperuma who was also associated with the disgraceful episode , were suspended from parliamentary sessions for a week.
This punishment was imposed after the resolution in this connection was ratified by the leader of the house under the standing order following the discussions held by party leaders based on the report regarding the incident forwarded to the speaker yesterday. Accordingly ,with effect from tomorrow , these two members are suspended from attending parliamentary sittings for a week . Incidentally these two members were not present in parliament .
Opposition chief whip Anura Kumara Dissanayake made a request to the speaker to release the video footage to the public. In compliance with the request the CCTV camera video footage was revealed to the media . (This video footage is hereunder )
The speaker while making his speech absolutely condemned the actions of those involved in this disgraceful incident of unprecedented display of hooliganism by so called people’s representatives. It was Dinesh Gunawardena (by now dubbed as a bankrupt politico suffering from acute senile decay )who was the prime cause of this fracas. The speaker blamed that even after Dinesh was told in so many words the issue will be taken up later ,that Dinesh persisted stubbornly in his questioning.
However when watching the incident via the video it has become clear it is Prasanna Ranaweera who was the first to launch the attack. Prasanna is noted for his lack of education and is a shameless thug by birth. The antecedence of Palitha Thevaraperuma is no better.
During a meeting of UNP parliamentary members , Thevaraperuma took a knife to stab the present prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe who was the opposition leader then. After the advent of the government of good governance , Thevaraperuma had to be in remand custody on charges of forcing an individual of the opposition to kneel down.
Thevaraperuma holds the inglorious and ignominious record of being the first to be remanded under the government of good governance. What is most reprehensible and repugnant is , despite Thevaperuma being a most uncouth, unrefined and uncultured scoundrel , he was made a deputy minister of country’s cultural affairs by the very government of good governance .
Anyone viewing the video herein would be led to conclude , not only the two that were punished , several others too deserve punishment . The video of hoodlums of SL parliament making the most respected August assembly a bedlam can be viewed hereunder.
