‘Inciting communal hatred by claiming dead LTTE cadres are being remembered is most deplorable’ Northern C.M. at commemoration ceremonies

(Lanka-e-News -20.May.2016, 10.00PM)  Commemoration ceremonies were  held on 18 th noon  at Wellimulli Waikal Mulaitivu  of  the Eastern province in memory of all those who died during the war . This was held with the participation of the chief minister of the North C. V.Vigneswaran .

This ceremony was held near the special memorial erected  at Wellimulla  Waikal , Mulaitivu. The crowd that particpated in this ceremony offered flowers and lit candles while the relatives of the dead offered religious blessings .

It was following the proposal made by the northern provincial council (NPC) this commemoration was held. TNA M.P.s of Wanni and Jaffna district, NPC ministers and members attended this event.

A large number of people also gathered to bless the dead  relatives. Apart from Mulaitivu , in other places in the Northern province too  commemoration ceremonies were  organized.  

The northern chief minister speaking on the occasion said , all those who died during the last phase of the war are not  LTTE cadres. During that period , a great number who died are ordinary innocent civilians and it was during that period , a great many of Tamil nationals  died , he added.

Vigneswaran also went on to say , the people of the South trying to incite communal hatred by claiming commemorations are being held on behalf of the LTTE cadres who died during the war , in order to gain political mileage cannot be approved or condoned under any circumstances .
