(Lanka-e-News -29.Aug.2016, 11.30PM) By not exposing the drunk pilot who disgraced the country and risked precious lives, the other respectable Sri Lankan pilots too are being looked down upon by the people as drunkards . Hence a great many have requested Lanka e news to reveal details about this drunk pilot in order that the other pilots are not insulted.
Therefore , Lanka e news had decided to expose this drunk pilot who caused the flight of Sri Lankan airlines from Frankfurt to Colombo to be delayed by 15 hours , and created a stormy crisis.
The name of this Pilot is Captain Upendra Ranaweera .It is learnt this is not the first time he had been in an inebriated state . Upendra on this occasion had put in jeopardy the lives of 259 passengers and a crew comprising 14 members of the UL 554 A 330 plane. Based on unofficial reports , owing to the delay of 15 hours at the Airport , a compensation in a sum of Rs. 25 million approximately may have to be paid to the passengers and because the plane was held back.
On the 14 th of May 2014 , it was Uvin Ranaweera the son of Upendra Ranaweera who while training dislodged a wheel of the plane over the Southern expressway. Because he did not heed the trainer’s advice , flew too low and tried uncalled for acrobatics the wheel of the plane had got entangled with a high tension wire at Galanigama.
Following this mishap , the trainee student license of the son of drunkard pilot Upendra Ranaweera was banned by the Civil aviation Authority. However as the father in law of Upendra was a Director of Civil aviation Authority , Uvin was issued a license to fly private planes.
Based on these incidents ,it has now become crystal clear that all the members of the family of drunkard pilot Upendra treat the piloting profession with scant regard and perform their official duties most irresponsibly.
It is the inescapable duty of those responsible at the top therefore to ensure against the reputation of the Sri Lankan pilots in general being tarnished because of the conduct of a single pilot and a single family of his. Hence those responsible at the top should take action not to shield the wrongdoer and down play this serious lapse , but rather duly mete out deterrent punishment to the culprits.

The Airline should deduct all the passenger-compensation charges and other expenditure incurrred as a result of the 15 hour delay from the captain's salary in case he is reinstated.By the way, I have still not heard of people who are interdicted turming up at hospitals complaining that they are too sick to face a disciplinary board. Maybe it it high time to use such an effective weapon.

If the compensation to be paid to the affected passengers is to be recovered from this imbecile’s salary, he will have to be reinstated. He does not deserve reinstatement and even if he is reinstated it will not be possible to recover the amount from his salary. He should be jailed for neglect of duty and utterly irresponsible behavior.
