Dr. W.D.Amaradeva the musical maestro and pundit passes away !

(Lanka-e-News -04.Nov.2016, 2.00AM) Dr.W.D.Amaradeva Sri Lanka’s  renowned musical maestro and pundit (Helaya maha Gandhravaraya) passed away .

A spokesman  for Sri Jayawardena hospital said , he died while he was receiving medical treatment in the intensive care unit .
 
Dr. Amaradeva was 88 years old at the time of his demise. 

The funeral rites of Dr. Amaradeva will take place with  State honors at the Independence square , Colombo at 6.00 p.m. on the 5 th, according to Keerthi Pasqual , the president of singers’ Association. 

The decision to hand over the remains to the Medical College had been changed. On the 4 th , the body is scheduled  be taken in procession at 9.00 a.m. from  Jayaratne funeral parlor to Torrington square .

The Government has declared a week of mourning from yesterday on account of his  demise. Accordingly , the national flags will be hoisted   at all government offices. This week of mourning was announced by the Ministry of internal affairs .
