(Lanka-e-News -06.Nov.2016, 8.25PM) Following the resignation of Ms. Dilrukshi Dias Wickremesinghe from the post of Commissioner of the department investigating Bribery and corruption , Sarath Jayamanne , an additional solicitor general of the Attorney General’s (AG) department is to be appointed in her place as the new Bribery Commissioner , according to informed sources close to the president
Jayamanne is sixth in the seniority ladder of the AG’s department . He is reputed among the legal circles as a lawyer of the AG’s department who had won a number of criminal cases .
Jayamanne is well known as a man of action and not just verbose unlike his predecessor . He is one who respects and abides by the laws. Above all he does not just say ‘yes Sir’ to politicos and political pimps.
He obtained his preliminary degree in forensic medicine at Sri Jayawardenapura University , and completed successfully the post graduate degree at the Oxford University , England. He has been working in the AG’s department for over 25 years during which period he won a number of criminal cases.
