Indian P.M. Narendra Modi arrives : visits Gangarama temple ; attends dinner hosted by SL president (photos).

(Lanka-e-News -12.May.2017, 6.30 PM) Indian Prime Minister (P.M.) Sri Narendra Modi arrived in Sri Lanka last evening   (11) . He was received at the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport when he arrived . He is here as the chief guest at the Wesak celebrations marking the International Wesak day.
 
The Indian P.M.was received by Sri Lanka’s P.M. Ranil Wickremesinghe . A number of M.P.s and ministers  including Mangala Samaraweera , Rajitha Senaratne and Nimal Siripala De Silva  were also associated with the event. After signing the visitor’s book at the Katunayake Airport , the Indian P.M. immediately  went to the Gangarama temple at Hunupitiya , Colombo to inaugurate the Wesak zone. 

The Gangarama temple clergy council formally received Modi along with SL prime minister , ministers and M.P.’s who arrived at the temple .Thereafter , Ven. Galaboda Gnanissara Thera of Gangarama temple  and the crowd observed pansil. Following the religious observances , the Indian P.M. inaugurated the Wesak zone amidst a display of fireworks and lighting of crackers. Speaker Karu Jayasuriya , Ravi Karunanayake , Sagala Ratnayake , D.M. Swaminathan , Sajith Premadasa and many others were present on the occasion.
 
Later , the Indian P.M. attended the special  dinner hosted by SL president Maithripala Sirisena at the presidential palace , Fort. The president most warmly welcomed the Indian premier at the presidential palace . SL Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe , speaker Karu Jayasuriya , opposition leader R. Sampanthan , chief minister of North C.V. Wigneswaran , and ministers Mangala Samaraweera , Ravi Karunanayake, State minister A.H.M.Fowzie and several others were also associated with the events.
