(Lanka-e-News -26.Dec.2014, 11.30PM) Based on false charges of possession of firearms , the Colombo Crime division (CCD) is trailing behind Prasanga Solangarachi , the former chairman of Kotikawatte local body cum convener of the SLFP rescue organization .
The obvious unlawful actions of the CCD are based on its obnoxious assumption that Sri Lankans can be fooled all the time :
The Mt.Lavinia municipal council member Shavithra Ramal De Silva who recently said he was crossing over to the opposition , and then participating in an opposition media briefing spoke in favor of the government , has along with Harigupta Rohanadeera visited the CCD , and made a complaint after producing an illegal firearm ( pistol) , claiming that it was Solangarachchi who gave him that illegal firearm to be kept in his custody .
The CCD after taking into its custody the illegal pistol that was in the hands of Ramal De Silva , has released the latter on bail and allowed him to go home. Thereafter , the CCD had started trailing Solangarachchi. It is significant to note that under the laws , an individual who had in his hands an illegal automatic firearm cannot be granted police bail .This is an offence for which police cannot grant bail, and It is only the high court that can decide on it. Besides , it is an offence where the suspect is liable to death sentence or life imprisonment if proved guilty .
Hence it is a most pertinent and perplexing question , under what law or legal provision did the police grant bail to Ramal De Silva who had in his hands an illegal pistol, and permitted him to go home free? What legal provision permits the CCD to release an individual who had in his hands an illegal firearm, and then chase after another based on the mere hearsay of the culprit who had in his hands the illegal firearm ? Perhaps, the Director of the CID must be entertaining the view that the people of this country are all nincompoops and nitwits who therefore deserve to be fooled .
No officer has the right to enforce the laws following illegal orders of Gota , the notorious criminal defense secretary of Sri Lanka (SL). It is well for every law enforcing officer to bear in mind that it is not only the culprit who gave the orders no matter how and mighty he might think he is presently , but those who followed his orders also will have to face the dire consequences for their illegal actions, some day .
When Solangarachchi went to the Human rights commission with his team of lawyers this morning to lodge a complaint against the injustice that is being meted out to him , the CCD police coolies were laying in wait for him outside . Solangarachchi who was smarter than these lobotomized police coolies who know only to lick those who kick and treat them like dogs, supposedly disappeared while within the premises. It is to be noted that over 300 people thronged Solangarachchi ‘s residence to protect and rescue him.
It is very obvious that this is a diabolic ploy adopted by the Rajapakse regime brutes and beasts to obstruct Solangarachchi from participating in the election campaign of Maithripala Sirisena . Similar subterfuges and subtle maneuvers are being planned by the regime against the other opposition politicians too , it is learnt . It is high time the people start agitating and opposing these illegal practices and injustices before it is too late . It is hoped that people will realize , when the neighbor’s wall is ablaze their own is at stake.
