-president and P.M. discuss and decide finally !

(Lanka-e-News - 11.Feb.2018 11.00PM)   A final decision was arrived today (11) between president Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister (P.M.) Ranil Wickremesinghe to continue with the consensual government until the year 2020 ; and  the UNP group  along with  the SLFP plus UPFA groups led by Maithripala Sirisena are jointly to form  their  local councils.

Following the announcement of the final result , the two leaders have had discussions and arrived at this decision. They have also decided to introduce radical changes within  the government which include a number of changes in the cabinet , and to eliminate the conspirators among  the staff of the president.

It had been discussed , according to the final overall official result following  the local government elections , percentage wise the popularity had not declined vis a vis the mandate of the people in 2015-01-08 . Though the  Flower bud of Mahinda Rajapakse has polled 44.69 % now , the forces then which were together with the Swan have a percentage of 55.3 %.  . Hence the UNP and Maithri groups have decided to form  the local councils jointly ..

Of the 340 local councils , the Flower bud has won 239 , the UNP won 42, TNA won 38  in the East and North , and Maithripala’s SLFP and UPFA secured 7.

If the councils  are to be formed  based  on the discussions between Sirisena  and Ranil , it is the UNP plus  SLFP-UPFA alliance has been able to secure victory in over 100 councils of the total of 340 .

Subsequent to  the discussions between the president and the P.M., the president held separate discussions with the UNP parliamentary group , and the SLFP parliamentary group . Those details will be reported separately.
