(Lanka-e-News -14.Feb.2015, 11.30PM) Who is this bigwig so powerful as to carry out unlawful activities even overriding the government launched for good governance legally elected by 6.7 million people ,which was formed by the union of 5main political parties and 49 organizations, and whose period of existence since coming into power is only a month? Can such a bigwig be there ? and who is this?
Based on the report hereunder it should be possible to search the answer for these two questions. We leave it to the readers to find the answers .
It is well to recall that Lanka e news and several other media Institutions had been for the last several years exposing a large scale most deadly environmental pollution that is being allegedly spread by a Norway factory by the name of ‘Jiffy ‘ . located at Kobayinage .The lethal toxic pollutant too was revealed as calcium nitrate.
Jiffy earlier took an injunction order against the media but that was later vacated by the court. The residents who were affected by the toxic and lethal environmental pollution caused by Jiffy sued the latter. The environmental authority via a 8 page report stated , Jiffy was releasing toxic chemicals into the Deduru oya(river) and the vicinity.
The report is appended herein. Incredible but true , if there is a country in this whole wide world that is permitting such a deadly human life risk causing factory to operate , it is only Sri Lanka!. The court going by the report, ordered Jiffy to halt releasing calcium nitrate to Deduru oya. Yet Jiffy discarding the court order most disdainfully , continued to release the deadly toxic calcium nitrate deliberately to Deduru oya after pulling the wool over the eyes of all including the court.
This continued pollution with complete impunity was however recently detected by one Marcus, who is espousing the cause of the aggrieved public.
This was discovered when a pipeline Jiffy had used on the sly to send the toxic chemical to Deduru oya became visible by the washing away of soil at a certain point due to the recent floods . Marcus had taken immediate steps to videotape this (the relevant video footage hereunder can be viewed ).
After this video exposure , the public have again been making complaints after complaints with the video testimony to the police and the environmental authority who are unfortunately in the pay of Jiffy.
What is perplexing and most reprehensible in this scenario is , the OIC of the police Jayaweera , a notorious licensed scoundrel raising objections and prohibiting the officers of the environmental authority from entering the Jiffy factory. This uniformed scoundrel had told, until Sandeeptha Gamlath, the CEO of the factory who was away in Colombo returns he cannot grant permission to enter the factory. Later Gamlath who arrived had held out death threats to Marcus . ‘Just see what I shall do to you. I shall set fire to the factory and hold you liable for it,’ Marcus has warned. Surely , doesn’t this clearly confirm , what clandestine and close ties exist between Jiffy and the police ?
The public realizing that making complaints to the Kobayigane police is of no avail , had along with Marcus complained to the DIG of the region , Sarath Kumara . His response was equally or even worse. He had turned the tables on the public and said , not to mudsling at the Jiffy factory. On top of this the police too has visited the residence of Marcus and threatened him based on a complaint made by Sandeepatha Gamlath . The cops had told Marcus to come to the police on 11 th morning to inquire into a complaint lodged by Gamlath.
For the last 4 years no punishment has been meted out to the culprits for releasing toxic pollutants into the Deduru oya. No investigation has been instituted to probe the continued release of toxic chemicals into Deduru oya disregarding the court order even after the video footage evidence of death threats posed to the public is made available , no action has been taken .In the end it is the aggrieved and affected people who are being accused as wrongdoers.
In the circumstances , we wish to raise the pertinent question again : Is it possible for such an obnoxious omni-potentate to exist who has the power and audacity to unlawfully override a government for good governance elected lawfully by 6.2 million people within its reign of just month ? Those who were in the frontline to form this government were : Champika Ranawake , an environment lover who is now a powerful minister ; Ven Athureliya Thera who is also another environment lover , now a Presidential advisor; John Amaratunge against whom a no confidence motion was brought recently , and who is throwing parties with gay abandon for the police, is the minister in charge of the police force.
Then , who can be the powerful bigwig who is above all of them ?
We are compelled to draw the reasonable inference that it is Basil Rajapakse who is the owner of Jiffy factory as alleged by the people , because it is under the government for good governance , Basil was permitted to flee to America unhindered , and because we are now compelled to believe it is Basil Rajapakse who owns this controversial Norway Jiffy factory which is a source of most grave danger and threat to people’s lives …..
..not because Suhada Gamlath and his brother Sandeeptha Gamlath are its CEOs.
… not because Basil allowed Jiffy precluding other companies from participating in his Rs. 100 million Divi neguma .
… not because , the police officers along with factory officers went in the night to the houses of the people who lodged complaints , and told them not to make complaints because this factory belongs to Basil Rajapakse.
..not because ,when Sudath Mahanthila , the secretary of the manure secretarial office visited the factory for inspection ,Basil Rajapkse phoned him and warned him to leave the Jiffy factory immediately, and not to ever think of inspecting the Jiffy factory again.
… but because , President Maithripala Sirisena who was elected on 6.2 million votes of the people , and who loudly claimed that even animals and plants are in need of good governance , is not only the President of the country , but has even taken over the environmental ministry, and still not legally divested himself of the executive power .
