Ranil and Maithri create history ! 19th amendment passed with 211 majority ! surmounting all odds created by rejects and reactionaries

(Lanka-e-News- 29.April.2015, 12.45PM) In the face of many obstacles placed by the Rajapakse slaves , and despite  the odds that were arrayed due to various reasons , the executive president Maithripala Sirisena and prime minister (P.M.) Ranil Wickremesinghe together created history when they successfully saw to it that their promise to the nation is fulfilled -that  is , the transfer of executive presidency powers to the parliament ,the supreme representative body of the people ,when the 19 th amendment (with amendments) was passed in parliament, thereby defeating the dastardly and traitorous goals of the despotic Rajapakses and their bootlicking slaves .

At the conclusion of the third reading in parliament , the 19 th amendment to the constitution  that transfers some of the inordinate powers of the executive presidency was passed at about 11.30 tonight . 212 voting for , 1 voting against ,  one abstention , and ten absent. The amendment was passed with a majority of 211 votes, meaning that it was passed with even more than a 2/ 3 rd majority . Even the 18 th amendment that was proposed by the Rajapkses then did not receive so many votes in parliament

SLFP , UNP, TNA, JVP ,Ven Rathane Thera and Patalie Champika Ranawake of the JHU, and Wimal Weerawansa , LSSP , Communist party , Vasudeva Nanayakkara who are allies  of the Alliance also voted for the amendment.

Incredible but true , even Namal Rajapakse the son of the defeated and deflated ex president voted for , while Basil Rajapakse was absent being in remand prison and hospitalized. He was granted a further three months leave today.(28)

At this most historic moment when all united to get rid of the executive presidency powers which plagued the country when wielded by despotic rulers , one solitary goof of an M.P. , of course , an SLFP er voted  against it. The other moron and notorious betrayer  who abstained from voting was Ajith Kumara who after being elected to parliament under the JVP broke away to join the Peratugami socialist party. 215 voted for at the second reading , but at the third , there were 212 voting for , as three of the MPs had gone out. Ex P.M. Dimu Jayaratne who voted at the second reading , was not there to vote at the third reading  following  the committee meeting .

The P.M. Ranil Wickremesinghe who made the final speech said , the incumbent president Maithripala Sirisena will go down in history as a rare   leader who after securing the power of the executive presidency , agreed to divest himself of it .

‘I agreed to the counter proposal advanced by the opposition party to appoint independent individuals and MPs in equal proportion to the constitutional council because ours is a minority government. However it is my personal view if the constitutional council is to be made truly independent of politics ,only the three most powerful in parliament , namely the P.M. , the opposition leader ,and speaker must be included , and others must be independent individuals . In the next parliament , this shall be implemented ,’the P.M. noted.

‘I am not satisfied however. We had to take a decision on  are we going to pass this amendment ? At least in our journey forward  whether this part success will fit in? or are we to abandon this effort totally ? Anyway ,I must tell we are going on, but we will not stop with this, the P.M. elaborated.

Ranil Wickremesinghe's long answer has left a nagging question unanswered. This is the crux of the problem : DID ARJUNA MAHENDRAN GIVE HIS SON-IN-LAW THE EARLY TIP- OFF ON THE BOND ISSUE , WHICH ENABLED THE LATTER'S COMPANY TO MAKE THE SUCCESSFUL BID FOR A LARGE SLICE OF THE BOND ISSUE, AND SO MAKE A HUGE " KILLING " IN THE PROCESS ? Justice must not only be done but must appear to be done !
