(Lankaenews- 28.May.2015, 11.30PM) The list of names of representatives for the constitutional council to be appointed under the 19 th amendment by parliament forwarded to the president had finally undergone a change.
One of the three representatives of the intelligentsia of the civil society who was originally proposed to the constitutional council jointly by the prime minister (P.M.) and opposition leader, was former Auditor general Mayadunne. However in the final list of names , Sarvodaya leader Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne has been included in place of Mayadunne. Mayadunne ‘s name was proposed by the UNP , and the opposition initially consented to this. No matter what , Dr. Ariyaratne is over 83 years of age, and whether he is fit enough health wise is a crucial issue.
The Muslim representative named in the final list to the constitutional council is former appeal court judge A.W.A. Salaam. His name was proposed after discussions between the Muslim Congress and other Muslim leaders . The consent of the P.M. and the opposition leader had also been received to that.
Accordingly , the constitutional council is constituted as follows :

Speaker
Champika Ranawake proposed by the president
Wijedasa Rajapakse proposed by the P.M.
John Seneviratne proposed by the opposition leader .
R. Sambandan proposed by the minority parties jointly which are not of the opposition party in parliament.
The three civil representatives appointed by the P.M. and opposition leader jointly are : Dr. Radhika Coomaraswamy , Dr. A T Ariyaratne and a former appeal court judge A .W.A Salaam.
In any event , political analysts are furiously questioning the appointment of Champika Ranawake by the president as his nominee on ethical and other justifiable grounds. . Didn’t the president have a better and saner choice from his own SLFP party ? they questioned. Is the president so obtuse and so deplorable to appoint an extremist villainous Champika Ranawake to the constitutional council made up of impartial members ? is another question raised by them . The political experts are also rudely shocked at the incapacity of the president to understand what a petty minded stupid religious fanatical buffalo is politician Champika , who was the only politician who stood by the foolish monk who self immolated over a bull some time ago. In other words that monk was so foolish he tried to prove an animal’s life is more precious than human (his own) when no religion advocates that. The experts are therefore of the opinion , this attitude of the president can only be a bane and not a boon for the country.
It is to be noted that it is only buffalo Champika of the JHU who supported the monk who died for a bull , opposed the 17 th amendment which establishes the independent commissions under the constitutional councils, while all other political parties were for the amendment .Moreover, it was this same demented Champika appointed by the president as his nominee who opposed the name of Dr. Jayadeva Uyangoda then to the constitutional council , and dragged the council down to degradable depths.
In addition , by the president appointing this villainous extremist Champika , the defecating cat which was obstructing the 19 th amendment is now out of the bag with all its stench , the political analysts pointed out..
