(Lanka-e-News- 25.July.2015, 2.15PM) Senior DIG Ravi Seneviratne in charge of the CID has been transferred with immediate effect to Sabaragamuwa , according to reports reaching Lanka e news.
Traffic crime division senior DIG Nandana Munasinghe going to be appointed to act for him despite the fact that transfers being effected after general elections have been officially announced are unlawful .
It is the view of the low rung officers of the CID , that owing to this unlawful transfer effected by the IGP, the investigations that are being conducted into the monumental crimes of corruption by the CID are being detrimentally affected.
The chief executive Professor Uditha Gunasekera of the intellectual circle of the chain of election monitors has lodged a written complaint with the Elections commissioner , and had urged that this transfer which is unlawful in the present context shall immediately be cancelled. It is the Elections Commissioner who is empowered to take the decision
