President and P.M. should match their word with deed –TNA in its communique

(Lanka-e-News- 30.Aug.2015, 10.30PM)  Based on parliament traditions and pronouncements , the post of opposition leader should belong to Ilankai Tamil Arasu Katchi ( ITAK) party,  said TNA issuing  a communiqué.

The communiqué issued by the TNA states , TNA is the party that has the majority seats in the opposition.
At the last general elections , the UNP secured the highest number of seats followed  by the UPFA. By now it has been made known that UNP and the SLFP are forming a national government .

Hence , the TNA states it will become necessary for the UPFA to run a government jointly with the UNP , in which case the UPFA MPs will be bound to support them , the TNA as a political party points out.
In the circumstances , the ITAK which is holding 16 seats in parliament must be entitled to the opposition leader post, TNA declares.

The incumbent president Maithripala Sirisena and the government seem to be committed to recognize  the Tamil people as citizens .Nevertheless if they show reluctance to accept us who have been elected on the votes of the people of the North and the East  as the main opposition party , then the faith in them and their commitment will be eroded

The TNA  pinpoints that if the President and the government are truly committed to resolving the national issue , they must match their words with deeds ; and the TNA too will work with commitment towards that goal by co operating with the government .

Meanwhile , Nihal Galapathy the most experienced parliamentarian  of the JVP who was elected to parliament thiis time addressing a media briefing recently said , the opposition leader post should go the TNA.

At the same time the extremist groups of the UPFA who are left out by the government (left in the lurch ) and are going to sit in the opposition say , the opposition leader post belongs to them .Their choice for that post is Kumara Welgama M.P. (the best out of the worst) , a most uncivilized notorious character lacking seniority and who was  expelled from the working committee of the UPFA
