(Lanka-e-News -03.Sep.2015, 11.30PM) JVP national list M.P. and former auditor general Sarathchandra Mayadunne making a special announcement in parliament said he was resigning his parliamentary post.
However the grounds he cited for his resignation are not under any circumstance acceptable to those who oppose corruption.
‘The efforts made by the JVP by presenting a national list comprising neutral independent individuals like me , intellectuals and scholars to eradicate corruption and frauds were not backed by the people via their mandate . Consequently , more of those who are involved in frauds and corruption have been elected to parliament .Hence taking into account the people’s mandate , I am resigning the M.P. post ,’ Mayadunne said.
This contention is not acceptable by any stretch of imagination , for ,if those who voted for JVP are against corruption , Mayadunne represented those very voters
