Maiden budget of United government passed with 2/ 3 rd majority ! JVP as always takes faltering step !

(Lanka-e-News- 03.Dec.2015, 11.30PM) The maiden budget of the United government was passed with a two third majority after the second reading yesterday (02), that is by 107 votes with 159 for and 52 against !

13 members of parliament  were absent at the time of voting.Though there were minor criticisms against the budget at the time of voting , this is the first ever budget presented that was  geared to accomplish national aims and objectives. Towards education a 6 % of the national income has been  set aside , while in response to the demands of the University academics , a 5.41 % has been set aside which is almost what they wanted.

Irrespective of the criticisms mounted, it is an indisputable fact that it is the United government that allocated the largest fund towards education .The University academics federation president , Dr. Premalal Fernando ackonowledged this at a media briefing yesterday.

The prices of 11 essential commodities , gas ,oil had been brought down ,  and a monthly salary increase of Rs. 10,000.00 for government servants cannot be argued by anyone as are not immediate benefits granted in the budget .

For the first time the opposition leader R. Sampanthan , and all members of the TNA  voted in favor of the budget taking into consideration the welcome proposals in the budget. This was a most noteworthy feature. It is very unfortunate the JVP the most battered and bruised party under the bruital barbaric Rajapakse regime despite all the humiliation they faced then ,  voted against the budget aligning with thevery  pro Rajapakse villainous scoundrels . This was a most despicable, detestable , disgraceful and self degrading move on the part of the JVP.

If the JVP had the sanity , sobriety and sensible thinking to caculate their moves wisely and practically on behalf the nation , at least instead of voting with the barbaric brutes of the  Rajapakse clan , they could have refrained from voting .The JVP leader seeking cheap political agendas and goals is so myopic in his vision that he cannot see beyond what his nose can reach. This was clearly demonstrated by him before the masses by voting against the budget  and clustering around the people rejected and dejected Rajapakses , taking leave of his senses and having lost the true vision and mission of the JVP on behalf of the people.

Arumugam Thondaman , Douglas Devananda and Lakshman Seneviratne who are seated in the opposition too voted in favor of the budget.

It is an irony of ironies , while  ex president Mahinda Rajapakse cronies and clan were opposing the budget proposals vehemently , their own chief Mahinda Rajapakse , Kurunegala district M.P. silenly fled the scene leaving them in the lurch . He vanished without voting. The pro Rajapakse group , Geetha Kumarasinghe , Siripala Gamlath , Premalal Jayasekera ,Janaka Bandara Tennekoon , Manusha Nanayakkara , Lohan Ratwatte  and Kanaka Herath toed his line – they were absent at voting time.

M.K.D.S . Gunawardena , a minister of the government could not vote because he is hospitalized . Ven . Athureliya Rathane Thera and Buddhika Pathirane having gone overseas also could not vote.

MPs Sivasakthy Anandan and S. Sivamohan of the TNA  were not present for the voting.

President Maithripala Sirisena in the morning summoned all  his groups , and requested to vote for the budget .  Bandula Gunawardena and  Dallas of the uncivilised Mahinda Rajapakse clan openly and to the president’s face that they would  not comply with his request , wherupon the president had politely told them he was only making a request .

It is significant to note , president Maithripala Sirisena during the budget voting , remained in the parliament , Thereafter, following the budget voting in favor of the government , he via a short official message thanked all who voted for it.

Undoubtedly , the morons and minions of the barbaric brutal clan  who were day dreaming that the government will be defeated and were wishfully thinking on those lines bringing futile no confidence motions , must by now be biting the dust and their tongues .
