We won on ‘threat to strike’ -Saman Ratnapriya : CBEU in solitary struggle

(Lanka-e-News -15.dec.2015, 11.45PM) The common  convener of the joint trade unions of the Government, semi Government and private sectors , Saman Ratnapriya issuing  a communiqué stated because of the threat to strike , it was possible to successfully secure a number of demands.

The following demands have been granted :

1. The basic monthly salary of government employees to be increased by Rs. 2000.00 . The balance Rs. 8000.00 to be paid in two installments. The salaries commission report that eliminated anomalies discarded. 
2. The agrahara insurance benefit for pensioners. 
3. 9 hours work per day withdrawn .  8 hours confirmed.
4. The emission test fee  brought down from Rs. 5000.00 to Rs. 1500.00 
5. The vehicle valuation fees reduced from Rs. 25000.00 to Rs. 5000.00  . The fee for Three wheelers and motor cycles is Rs. 3000.00
6. The registration fee reduced from 25 % to 15 %.
7. The proposal allegedly impairing Sate  banks withdrawn
8. Salary increase of Rs. 2500.00 for private sector from May.
9. EPF / ETF to be under the Central Bank
10. Monthly pensions confirmed. Discussions to be held with trade unions before implementing the proposals.
11. Probationers and casual employees to be made permanent within 180 days further confirmed.

The strike was cancelled following the discussions held with the prime minister yesterday (14) 12.30 p.m. and after the above demands were granted. 

Meanwhile the Ceylon Bank Employees Union alone staged a strike today . The union obstructed the roads after  a  crowd of about 2000 members assembled at the Fort.
