Opposition Hoodlums make parliament a bedlam again ! Rowdy MPs occupy speaker and president’s chairs
(Lanka-e-News- 31.July.2017, 11.30PM) Due to the unruly and rowdy behavior of joint opposition MPs and JVP ers with a view to sabotage the proceedings in parliament during the debate and voting on the gazette notification which announced Ceylon petroleum corporation services as essential services , the parliament had to be adjourned. Despite it , these hooligan joint opposition MPs continued to behave most disgracefully in order to create pandemonium and panic deliberately within the most revered constitutional assembly while enacting a bogus villainous drama demanding that the parliament sittings shall be resumed defying speaker’s orders.
Priyankara Jayaratne M.P. sat in the chair of the Hon. Speaker and started making announcements while Prasanna Ranatunge was seen sitting in the chair reserved for the president.
This bedlam scene created by the hoodlums- joint alliance M.P.s began as follows :
After the Hon. Speaker took steps to adjourn parliament at 11.45 a.m. as was customary , the media personnel who were in the media gallery too started returning to their room when the quorum bell rang again at about 12.00 noon. The journalists then appeared again and went towards the media gallery .
It was following a play acting of Ranjith Soysa M.P. , that Mahindananda Aluthgamage and Rohitha Abeygunawardena who were in the parliamentary well went towards the speaker’s seat.
Later , Ranjith Soysa and Prasanna Ranaweera pretended they were making speeches when the other hoodlums Priyankara Jayaratne sat in the chair of the speaker and turned comical while Prasanna Ranatunge sat in the chair meant for the president to indulge in clownish acts.
Minister Rajitha Senarathne told Lankadeepa newspapers that those M.P.s who behaved in a manner that violated the disciplinary code and to deliberately disgrace and insult the Parliament – the apex August assembly of the country , should be chased out. In the future stern action will be taken against unjustifiable strikes , and all the laws of the country will be enlisted and geared to combat such unjustifiable strikes , the minister firmly asserted.
