(Lanka-e-News- 01.Nov.2014, 11.55PM) Ranil Wickremesinghe has been driven into serious trauma because of the stupid utterances and monkey pranks of Sajith Premadasa in much the same way as the monkey in the tale of the ‘monkey and King,’ where the latter was led to death due to the idiocy of his monkey friend . Owing to what Sajith Premadasa blabbered at the Hyde park rally on the 28 th , the golden opportunity the opposition had to pave the way for its success with the support of the group of Ministers and MPs of the government who are disillusioned with the government , and whose support is very vital to win the elections , was totally jeopardized , like in the fable where the foolishness of the monkey led the King to death, according to reports reaching the inside information division of Lanka e news.
Sajith Premadasa the UNP deputy leader identified this group that was seeking to join with the UNP as frogs and rats , while previously , Tissa Attanayake , the UNP Gen. Secretary described those who joined the UNP from other parties as ghosts .
Moreover , Mangala Samaraweera who crossed over to the UNP, presently a member of the UNP leadership council and the chief of the communication division was allocated a place only in the second row at the Hyde park rally.
On the other hand , John Amaratunge who is not a member of the leadership council , and who is always eating , drinking and touring with the President ,and Akila Viraj , the UNP deputy secretary were given seats in the front row. The worst part ? Mangala Samaraweera who is the UNP communication division chief and who could speak sanely, sensibly and intelligently , was not given an opportunity to speak.
The SLFP rescue organization comprising Ministers and MPs which is disappointed and disillusioned with the activities of the Rajapakses who are in the ready to leave the government and join with the opposition , met at a venue (date of meeting and venue cannot be disclosed), after the Hyde park rally, and discussed at length on this development .
Several matters were discussed by them at that meeting :
Firstly , if Mangala Samaraweera being a member of the leadership council , who toiled and sweated hard for several years to induce and inspire us to join the opposition , is treated this way , what is the treatment we can expect from that party ? they asked .
Secondly , we are seeking to join with the opposition , not because of issues concerning cash or we have inadequate powers , but rather because of the impossibility to discharge the ministerial duties under the Rajapakses while maintaining our self dignity.
When the UNP deputy leader is addressing us as frogs and rats who are ready to join the opposition , and the gen. secretary identifies us as ghosts, can we maintain our self dignity and work with the UNP? If Ranil Wickremesinghe was unable to make a peace offering during his speech, he could have at least subsequently invited openly the government members or those of other political parties , which he did not. Instead of this , his announcement that the UNP will contest alone under the elephant symbol had caused dismay and shock among the group of Ministers and government MPs who wanted to cross over.
In any case the discussions have ended without a final discussion . The group dispersed awaiting Chandrika ‘s arrival in the Island today , after which a final decision is to be reached.
Meanwhile Medamulana Mahinda Rajapakse and Mrs. Rajapakse have decided commencing next week to visit the residences of the disenchanted ministers and MPs , to win them over . However , a disillusioned senior minister has made arrangements to tour China during this period.
May we recall, Lanka e news forewarned before Sajith was made deputy leader that this type of bungling and muddling up could take place owing to him. We revealed that he is coming forward to carry out a Rajapakse contract with a view to destroy the unity and harmony that is being rebuilt within the party .We pinpointed, though he could make his characteristic nonsensical utterances when he was an ordinary individual , because such utterances do not carry any value ,but now after becoming the deputy leader , if he makes foolish speeches which undermine the party , that can prove most disastrous to the party and costly to the country whose people are nursing full hopes that the UNP must win.
It was also warned that if the deputy leadership is to be entrusted it should be done after the Presidential election announcement and the opposition alliance is finalized. The sangha members too invited Ranil and proffered the same advice. Ignoring the warnings , Ranil appointed Sajith as the deputy leader , but now it is boomeranging on the party most viciously .
In Sri Lanka every time a government was defeated , it has always been when a group from the ruling party breaking away and joining with the opposition. There is absolutely no doubt that only the nincompoops and nitwits , or immature and mentally warped individuals who claim that the UNP can win elections alone with the support of all its groups. No sane and sensible person thinking prudentially and providentially would endorse that view.
Yet , UNP leader appears to have hurtled down because he has apparently yielded to Sajith’s views.
The blabbering of Sajith , and Ranil conducting himself that is suggestive he is not dissociating from those views had not only disappointed the group of the government readying to join with the UNP , but even the other opposition party political leaders .
Yesterday (31) , a popular party leader questioned a representative of Ranil while having discussions with him , why was Mangala Samaraweera who led the discussions to form an opposition alliance relegated to second row ?
The representative replied , because Mangala came late that he was given a second row seat. The popular leader had then asked ,’ in that case if I also came late for a meeting , are you going to assign me a seat in the back row ? The popular party leader who was disgusted had pointed out , ‘while putting Sajith the bandicoot on the pedestal , and if you are going to mete out this ill treatment to Mangala who crossed over to the UNP from the government ranks , and toiled for the UNP for so long , I can imagine how you would treat us.’
The leader of a Tamil Party who was prepared to collaborate with the UNP in spite of Sajith’s ‘frog and rat story’ and Tissa’s ‘ghost story’, is now thoroughly disillusioned and disconcerted. Speaking to Lanka e news , he commented , if the UNP is trying to win elections alone after addressing the UNP’s outside parties as frogs rats and ghosts , it is best we look out for another avenue. We as the Tamil people’s party , we will not gain anything from the Presidential election. That gain is only earned by the candidate who contests under the UNP. Hence , if the UNP even before acquiring power is speaking so arrogantly , how much more will they blabber after winning ? he questioned with dismay and disappointment.
The UNP leader who had failed to unite the other parties of the opposition with the UNP even after a month and ten days have elapsed since the Uva provincial elections were concluded, it is a matter for doubt whether he could do that in the future, because Ranil Wickremesinghe’s personal craftiness is not serving much towards forming a common alliance. If the need be for the sangha across the Island to make UNP emerge victorious , they must start an Island wide campaign to launch a common alliance without allowing the Rajapakse conspirators including Sajith from leading Ranil with a rope put through his nostrils on the road to defeat and destruction of the party. Otherwise , the UNP will have to continue in the opposition tasting defeat for a further 8 years.

Pls LEN don't ruin UNP. Sajith is the only survivor of the party. With out him you can't even think about an election victory. You saw the results in UVA PC polls. It came mainly because of Sajith. secondly Harin, If there was no Sajith, even Hareen couldn't make such a difference.

I post this with a lot of reluctance. But LEN is right to point out the absurd situation that has come about thanks to giving Sajith recognition. The aim of any politician should be to build the widest possible alliance in order to win. How can this objective be achieved by labeling those willing to crossover as rats and ghosts. The man lacks common sense. He is also not responsible for doing very much during the UVA Poll accept giving lengthy speeches and hogging the limelight preventing others from speaking on the rare occasions he did show up at campaign events. On the contrary RW has delivered consistently but made a very wrong headed decision to give back recognition to Sajith. It has taken the steam out of the UNP and caused a huge problem. This is exactly where MR wants the UNP. He has done it again by destabilizing the UNP. There is a hidden motive for Sajiths stupid utterances. He cannot be trusted. RW's main weakness is that he is willing to forgive and trust those who don't deserve either.
