-Suhada’s defeat is people’s victory
(Lanka-e-News -18.Feb.2016, 11.50PM After former secretary to the judiciary Suhada Gamlath who imagined that he is the future Attorney General , had a ‘puncture’ and lost his airs and graces he was inflating himself on ,the police and the courts are now slowly but surely being relieved of the obnoxious pressures he was exerting on those Institutions. This was clearly confirmed yesterday (17) , at the Human Rights Commission (HRC).
Kobeyigane police OIC revealed openly to the HRC today , it has by now been proved that Kobeyigane Jiffy Co., (the CEO of which Co. is Sandeeptha Gamlath the younger brother of Suhada Gamlath), polluted the Deduru Oya by releasing a most lethal nitrate mixed toxic waste . He also said , attempts were made to offer bribes to the police , and as soon as possible legal action shall be filed in court.
Lanka e news was the first to expose this corrupt Jiffy Co.’s most pernicious and deadly activity . Even when some other genuine media exposed this danger subsequently and the environmental organizations too agitated for several years backed with evidence , yet because of the pressures brought to bear on the police and the courts by Suhada Gamlath , the brother of Sandeeptha Gamlath the CEO of the Co. both the police and the courts remained deaf and dumb .
The amount of nitrate mixed toxic waste released by Jiffy Co. into the Deduru oya is as large as many hundred thousands of liters .Though there should be only 10 % PPM in the water that is consumed by the people , but because of this release of toxic waste by Jiffy Co. the water in the wells in the vicinity of Deduru Oya has a 660 % PPM content . Despite the grave dangers posed to the people owing to these reckless and ruthless release of toxic waste , heartless Suhada Gamlath exploiting his powers and influence unrelentingly suppressed this most dangerous and deadly activity to the detriment of the residents of the area in particular , and the entire nation in general.
While the police were silenced via bribes, by bribes being offered to Saman Senanayake the scoundrel of a Director of the Wayambe environmental authority , the certificate on behalf of Jiffy Co. was issued . As a result Jiffy Co. was transformed into a Co. that was traitorous and lethal to the people.
When an organization was formed under the name of Deduru oya protecting organization , and a case was filed in the magistrate court against these contaminating activities , after obtaining an illegal directive from the high court , the magistrate court efforts were stifled. It is noteworthy while the most abhorred Jiffy organization was committing the atrocities and flagrantly violating the laws , the police remained dumbfounded and crippled. Moreover , when the media exposed these atrocities and the dangers posed by the Jiffy Co. , the media too were gagged via an injunction order taken against them .
Suhada Gamlath of course even after the advent of the government of good governance , got hold of the government’s ‘deal dasas’ (racketeers) and continued with his corrupt and crooked activities .
When the environmentalists went for an inspection , enlisting the hooligans, the environmentalists were attacked while the police were standing idle and watching. Shockingly , this incident took place when the environment minister is the executive president himself. The latter said , he uses his executive power only to protect environment .Despite it , if the environment destroyers are attacking the environmentalists right before the police , the environment lovers are rightly questioning whether the president’s executive powers have descended that low as to be hidden between his thighs , and shy to come out.
When a complaint 2015/10/14/ HRC 3319/ 15 was lodged with the HRC against the police and Jiffy Co. , and when it was taken up for hearing , the OIC Kobeiyigana police did not attend court . The HRC therefore had to inform the IGP to instruct the OIC to appear before the commission.
Yesterday(17) when the OIC appeared before the HRC , he revealed , it has been duly proved that nitrate mixed dangerous toxic waste is being released to the Deduru oya by Jiffy Co. as alleged , and to suppress this , attempts were made to offer bribes to the police. Legal action should be filed in courts against the Co. as swiftly as possible , the OIC urged.
This incident of most dangerous proportions only goes to demonstrate though the rainbow revolution succeeded on January 8 th 2015 and that victory was confirmed on 17 th August 2015 , there is still a lot remaining to be done by the civil organizations, the genuine media and pro good governance masses to save the country .
A t least at this belated stage , deterrent punishment shall be meted out to these culprit rascals and scoundrels for all the damage they inflicted on the environment and human lives this long ; and Jiffy administration must be compulsorily brought duly under a lawful control so that lives of the people and Deduru oya will be safeguarded , from now on at least.
