Hidden truth behind the AIDS publicity given to Kuliyapitiya mother (video)

(Lanka-e-News- 09.March.2016, 11.30PM) The villagers opposed the admission of a child to a school in Kuliyapitiya citing  the grounds it is an HIV positive case ; the villagers turned into beasts therefore ; and the education minister on this account  sought to grab the child from the mother . These stories and more  were related via the mass media. However based on a probe  made by Lanka e news into these reports , it has come to light all these stories are  absolutely false and aimed at misleading the people.

Lanka e news remained silent at the beginning  because it is not ethical for a civilized media Institution to make a din about an HIV positive patient and a  child. By now it is clear all  these moves and revelations have only befouled the situation.

So far since no media had taken any measures to reveal the true picture in this connection , we have taken upon ourselves the task as a news website always espousing the truth come what may , to bring home to the public the unalloyed truth .

First and foremost it is imperative and important to inquire why a whole village objected to a  child being admitted to a school, because Lanka e news does not wish to assume  all those vilagers are so backward , stupid or inhuman to act that way.

In the circumstances , we sought the views of Asanka the Grama Sevaka of Mahara Palpola, Kuliyapitiya , and the intelligent matured villagers in this regard .

Truly , the villagers have opposed the admission of the child to school more  because that family had allegedly committed murders ; involved in drug peddling ; assaulted even their parents ; constantly quarelled with the villagers ; they are unsocial;  and a source of nuisance to society , and not particularly because of  the HIV positive stigma.

The Grama Sevaka speaking out said, the HIV positive story is circulated by Chandani Silva the mother of the child at various times for her own benefit . She  also  at other times  contradicts  her own story about her  HIV infection.

The family history of the child …

Chandani Silva had two husbands . She has a son by her first husband who is the eldest who owns  a DIMO Batta Van. After separating from her first husband and the son , she left  for Middle East. Later she  returned to Sri Lanka as a woman who has lost her  sense of shame and  fear.  She began  going about  openly with several ‘husbands’ and others . While roaming the streets , she sold sweep tickets in Kurunegala town.

Subsequently ,she returned to her village with another husband. Anura Sudharshana Silva is the name of this second husband who supposedly  died of HIV infection.Anura was a bestial  anti social individual. His source of income was distilling Kassipu , selling it , as well as selling Babul and ganja (cannabis) . Chandani was a partner in these illicit businesses.

One day , Chandani along with  Anura assaulted her first husband with a club until both his legs were broken. On another occasion Chandani attacked her own 75 years old mother until  the club of a coconut tree leaf used by her to assault broke . There are records in the police about this incident.  Quarrelling with her own family members and the villagers constantly was a matter of  routine and a way of life for Chandani’s family.

Meanwhile , during a fierce quarrel  Anura killed his own younger sister Pushpa’s  husband by cutting and chopping. Anura was incarcerated for sometime over this incident , but was released because of absence of evidence . After coming out , he reverted to  his old incurable anti social habits and  violent ways. Chandani was his aide .The child born to them fell victim to the HIV story doing the rounds .

Later Anura fell sick , and while receiving indoor treatment at Mulleriyawa hospital he died. His body was not brought home , and was cremated at the Burial grounds after being taken in a sealed coffin directly  from the  hospital .His death certificate does not indicate that he died of AIDS. Yet in the village the rumour raged that  he died of AIDS.

Following Anura’s death , Chandani was forlorn . She stopped her kasippu, ganja and Babul  businesses, because she could not continue alone, and got involved in the business activities of her first son to earn her livelihood, by helping her son.

Chandani continued to talk  about the  AIDS when she quarrels with the people . She threatened  ‘I shall infect you with AIDS’ but on other occasions she denies her own statement  in order  to gain an advantage. One day she had claimed that she had slept with 18 men of the village , and she infected all of them with AIDS.

So , it is in  this background the  young child was brought up . This child was attending a Montessori school before seeking school admission.Because of the misconduct of this child who scratched and bit other children , the montessori teacher had to isolate this child in the class , and teach him. The villagers opposed the admission of this child to school based on a number of reasons including these.

The opinion of a number of intelligent leading persons including the Grama Sevaka was , unless this child is separated from the mother and entusted to  probationary care , the child will also be doomed like the family .

No matter what , the negative publicity given by the media pertaining to this child had only inflicted  greater damage on the child rather than doing good, and the mother is mainly contributory.

Despite the education minister and the president  having agreed to get a school for the child , the mother has claimed   because she has come by an opportunity to go to England , the child does not need a school. She has made this episode a selfish money making ploy and she  is now obsessed with the  funds she receives daily from the NGOs that visit her .

Based on the unofficial information garnered by Lanka e news from porbationary officers , it is being said, the mother is HIV infected ,  If so , she must  like other HIV infected patients be arranged  separate welfare attention. She cannot be allowed to play havoc taking  the law into the hands while threatening ‘ I shall infect you with AIDS.’

Of course the child is not  AIDS infected. Hence , if concern is being  shown towards the welfare of the child , the latter shall be segregated from the mother , and  her influence . That is the child should be raised in a different social environment . It is also the responsibility of  the civilized society not to make this an inhumane drama .
