11 former LTTE leaders arrested for questioning over Chavakachcheri weapons and suicide kit detection

(Lanka-e-News-28.April.2016, 11.45PM)  LTTE organization Trincomalee  district ex intelligence division leader Thalaiariyaratnam was taken into custody by the Terrorism investigation unit on the 26 th in connection with the suicide bomber   kit as well as weapons that were discovered in a house in Chavakachcheri . Two days prior , Ariyamugam alias ‘Kalayang’ the former leader of LTTE intelligence division  Trincomalee too  was arrested on the 25 th by the police.. A group of police officers in civil attire have made the arrest .

A .Siththara , the wife of Kalayang had made a written complaint to the SL Human rights Commission (HRC)  office , Trincomalee that a group which  came to their house situated at Channel street , Trincomalee in the night of 24 th inquired  about her husband and collected data.  Her husband who returned from India after being in the rehabilitation camp following the war ,  was  naturally frightened , and had gone  to the HRC office , Trincomalee to make a complaint .But in front of  the entrance to  the HRC, a group in civil attire who claimed they were police officers arrested her husband . His whereabouts are unknown now , Siththara had related in her complaint.

Kalyang’s initial  residence was in Alankeni , Kinniya . After  deserting the Karuna faction , he was an informant to the security divisions of the government for some time.

Meanwhile , Indimalasangham Arindran alias Ram , the Ampara district former political leader of the LTTE who is now rehabilitated was arrested on the 24 th by the Terrorism investigation unit .
 
So far 11 individuals who were linked to the LTTE have been arrested in connection with the detection of the suicide bomber kit and weapons in a house in Chavakachcheri
