Sarath Fonseka and his party leaders become life time members of UNP
(Lanka-e-News -30.June.2016, 11.20 PM) Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka after leaving his party and while joining the UNP said , from today , he is not the leader of the Democratic party ,and his leader is Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe the leader of the UNP .
After Fonseka and his group became life time members of the UNP at a ceremony held at Sri Kotha this noon , he and his group were warmly welcomed by the leaders of the UNP who celebrated the occasion.
Fonseka who spoke on the occasion said , the Democratic party is not disbanded. He and the leaders of the Democratic party joined with the UNP not for temporary gains , and from today the entire political future will be with the UNP , he pledged. It is the UNP that lent him a hand to enter politics in 2010, he further pointed out.
P.M. Ranil Wickremesinghe speaking on the occasion said , ‘Two armies have met . Now we shall be forging ahead together. Earlier we travelled separately , and joined to launch the attack. Now we shall unite and launch the attack.’
‘ Now we have a huge war to fight and win. Why did the people cast their votes to Maithripala Sirisena? The people are expecting a new world and a new country . Field marshal joined with us to create that country. We have launched a battle to combat poverty. It is our aim to make Sri Lanka a most powerful country in the world again,’ P.M. exhorted.
