Yesterday was President’s 65 th Birthday.. ! most austere celebrations vs Rs. 300,000.00 scent bottle (video ) !

(Lanka-e-News -04.Sep.2016, 11.45PM)  Yesterday was President's 65 th birthday . After inviting the sangha members to his residence he served  them with  ‘Heel dhana’ ,listened to  a religious sermon and obtained their blessings. Later , along with his family he visited the Maharagama cancer hospital during noon, to engage in a meritorious act of distributing meals to the inmates. Thereafter he participated in an inauguration ceremony of a blood bank , and  returned to spend his evening quietly at home.

The special representative of Lanka e news in Sri Lanka paid a visit to his home to wish him on the occasion . The president who saw the representative was shocked to see him.

The representative who had witnessed evening celebrations of other State leaders too was surprised when he saw  president Maithri’s most austere birthday party . Unbelievably only his family was present at Maithri’s celebration. The number of participants was only about 10-15. Our representative returned after wishing the president and  having dinner with him.

This is exactly the change what the pro good governance masses expected via the upheaval on 8 th January 2015.

It is a well and widely known fact , state leaders of Sri Lanka before him celebrated their birthdays spending millions and millions of rupees. Those monies are of the people.  Those celebrations were held with wealthy wheeler dealers across the country attending the function in the evening with gifts worth millions  for the whole family of the State leader .Naturally , they lavished the state leader and his family with such gifts not without ulterior motives. They expected reciprocation from the State leader , and the latter too unhesitatingly granted whatever they wanted.

Let us cite one example : A notorious drug dealer during the period of the corrupt regime  was visiting Temple trees frequently . On every occasion he never forgot to take a scent bottle to the then first lady Shiranthi Rajapakse . She too never failed to accept it most glady. One such scent bottle in SL rupees was worth over Rs. 300,000.00 !

It is while SL was indebted to the tune of Rs. 9000 billion ! and considered as a poor country of the third world , these former State leaders deemed it right to enjoy parties and celebrate birthdays on most wasteful and profligate scale. A true leader who is patriotic will never think of  Tamashas and selfishly enjoy while the people of the country are poverty stricken , and are struggling to eke out a living , even by forgoing their meals.

The incumbent president Maithripala Sirisena who hails from Polonnaruwa celebrated his birthday most austerely  without pomp and fuss , and showed to the people what a change he had brought in  . Hence , we believe  we must  make the following comments before concluding  this report …

Miathripala Sirisena who came forward as the common presidential candidate to contend against  the murderous regime putting his own life in jeopardy did not  crave for empty self  glorifying titles like ‘His Excellency,’ ‘Honorable,’ ‘Maharaja’. He only requested that he be addressed as Mr. and his first lady  as  Mrs. . Many have by now forgotten these salutary  traditions of his.  Trimming his period of tenure of office , vesting his powers in the Parliament and the Independent commissions too are now forgotten by many.  Making cut backs on his official expenditure and on his security detail too may have been forgotten by a great many.

The cruel irony is ,even the media division of the president has forgotten these changes.  This can be gauged from the video footage released by the president’s media division who  had put themselves down to the level of slaves by calling him ‘Nirindha’ (King). It is very unfortunate the president’s media division released this villainous video footage to the social media to mark the president’s Birthday.  These slaves and scoundrels who were with Rajapakse the dictator , apparently had still not understood the revolution that has overtaken this country after the new government of good governance . These self seeking opportunists  are trying to dress president Maithripala too with the same unclean ‘jungi’ of the ex ‘King’ as before and make him also stink despite Maithri president having  clearly stated in so many words  that he shall be addressed as “Mr.’    In that video footage president has been described again as   Nirindha   thereby trying to make him a ‘King.’

Let us also recall herein the discussion we had yesterday with a high rung government servant who phoned our office in London...

He said , ‘ I am in this country but I am  more infuriated than all of you ‘

Reply – ‘Why, the situation has turned for the better with good governance’

The high rung officer – ‘No, if one hears what people who are with me  are saying , one will get  angry. They say nothing is happening. Can’t these idiots understand , at least now the fear psychosis created by the white van syndrome is not there ; the fear I had that a Nil Balakaya bloke may come and rape my  daughter has ebbed away . Don’t these  fools understand this.  The government is not making a big din or campaign in this regard.  Hence , I am angered over this.’

This officer went on pouring out his sorrows endlessly .

We asked him   : if this can be perceived clearly , need there be a new campaign ?

The officer : To these people in SL , Lanka e news must thrust these down their throats and explain in every detail.

Reply : Anyway don’t worry , you and I cannot put everyone on the right track .If we can put a minimum of 51 % on the right track  , that will suffice. We have done this with you all , haven’t we? Hence be calm ‘

The president met with the media chiefs day before yesterday (02)  on which occasion he made a most important statement . Vide video footage hereunder

No, not even a perfume bottle costing Rs3 million is enough to remove the stench left by the MaRa family.
