NPC is like recalcitrant child crying for milk ! Rs. 40 Billion granted to build 20, 000 houses not used ! -Grave charges mounted by Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva (Audio)

(Lanka-e-News -18.Jan.2017, 11.30PM) The Northern provincial council is demanding powers and weeping and wailing like an infant . But when  the soother is put in its mouth and made to drink milk , like a recalcitrant baby who is a nuisance to the mother and refuses to drink  , the NPC has not utilized the powers that were vested in it , regretted minister of transport and civil aviation Nilmal Siripala De Silva.

To substantiate his allegation , he said , it is over a year and half since funds were allocated to the NPC to build 20,000 houses at the rate of Rs. 2 million per house , yet the NPC has failed to construct even a single house !

The minister made these rudely shocking revelations when he inaugurated a fully equipped modern Bus terminus in Vavuniya in the Northern province  built  at a cost of Rs. 195 million under the National transport commission.

Like how the ethnic war was ended , now the time has come to end the battle between the CTB and the private transport service , the minister pointed out.

Speaking further the minister went on to comment as follows :

‘Analogous  to the conflict that existed between the security divisions and the  Tiger organization , now there are various  conflicts between the CTB and the private bus services. The time has now  arrived to end these conflicts. That is why in the same bus terminus , CTB buses are parked in one area and in another the private buses , so that through this the reconciliation aims of the government can be achieved .

I notice there is a shortcoming  specially in relation  to the NPC . The NPC is persistently and continuously asking for power devolution and more powers . That is of course justifiable from their standpoint, but even with the present powers vested in them  ,  it has not been possible for them to carry out what should have been accomplished  within the period. The bottle of milk is given , the soother is put in the mouth   , yet milk is not being drunk. We are therefore urging you to make full use  of this government sincerely.’

A number of ministers including Minister Rishad Badiudeen , deputy minister Asoka Abeysinghe,  K. Masthan M.P. , provincial council ministers and members, as  well as  secretaries of the transport ministry participated in this function.
