(Lanka-e-News -20.Jan.2017, 11.30AM) A second year student of the Peradeniya University who sustained serious injuries following brutal ragging by a group , was admitted to the Peradeniya teaching hospital for medical treatment.
The incident occurred near the post graduate research Institute within the University 18th morning at about 10.00 . The victim who was attacked because he resisted the ragging, is the son of a High court judge , a University spokesman revealed.
It is the view of the University officials this attack has been launched by a group engaged in ragging of the same faculty of the victim . An investigation has been launched into this by the University , the spokesman further stated.
8 students supposed to have committed this violence are to be arrested , Peradeniya police disclosed.
